An exercise in interpretation

    [​IMG] Here's a little noodle-scratcher for all you literature buffs.

    Following are the lyrics to a song. When the song was written, it had a very strong message behind it. The message can be summed up in one word, which I will not reveal. Unfortunately, the lyrics are very convoluted and have a lot of personal meaning to the artist, so it is very hard for an obeserver to guess this meaning.

    My challenge to the good folk of SP is to read these lyrics and try and guess that one word. I want you to interpret these words, discover their meaning. This is the kind of thing English students do to poems, and I myself will find myself doing it a lot in the next few years. So, what is the one word? What is this song about?

    HINT: The word begins with a vowel.

    OK, I will admit that this is a tricky one, so I'll tell you that the word begins with "I". It's a rather peculiar word, and we normally use its opposite rather than it itself.

    Just to add to the confusion. :D
