    Hi all,

I'm in Baldur's Gate after doing Durlag's Tower and have somethng like 85,000 gold... trouble is WHAT can I spend this on? I can't find any stores selling any decent items. I blew a good few thousand on some arrows of dispelling but still have a huge amount of wealth... what to do with it all?

Dagger of Venom and Shadow Armor sold by the smith in Beregost. Potions galore from just about everyone.

There's good stuff in Ulgoth's Beard unless you bought them already.

    Like what kuemper?

I may need to go back to Beregost for that shadow armour.

The greenstone amulet, ring of invisibility, quarterstaff +3, cloak of displacement, Gregan's harp, wand of the heavens and Greater Malaison.

    That's what I buy anyway.

Well, for high-ticket useful items, there are quite a few, which you may or may not have purchased at this point.

    Beregost - Smithy:

    Inchluding what Fel mentioned,

    Dagger of Venom
    Shadow Armor
    Full Plate Mail

All of those cost several thousand gold, even with a high reputation.

    High Hedge - Thalantyr (sp?)

    Cloak of the Good/Neutral/Evil Arch-Magi
    Tons of different wands/potions/scrolls
Claw of Cathcaroth (if you have an NPC with a Constitution between 9 and 14, the penalty doesn't affect your total hitpoints)

Sorcerous Sundries - Baldur's Gate - first area you enter

    TONS of new scrolls
Pretty much every potion available in the game
Pretty much every wand available in the game.

    Ulgoth's Beard - tavern

    Everything that Kuemper mentioned.

Also, failing everything else, you can blow money on Acid Arrows or Arrows of Biting. Both do very nice damage.

:hahaerr: Claw of Carcaroth, huh? I imagine he'll want that back. :shake: (proper name: Kazgaroth) Get the Claw just for the novelty of it, or for the ability to use it on a new mage character to get killed in the last scene of the prologue. (A 1st level mage with a CON of 1 only has 1 HP, and will be killed by Tamoko's Flame Arrow.)

There's also the Horn to consider, though it does 10 damage to you every time you use it.
Especially if you haven't Baldurdashed off the STR bonus for the Biters. ;)

Hey! I liked the Claw of Kazgaroth, mainly because its AC bonus stacked with magic armour. It was handy for Kivan, anyway, as he wouldn't suffer an HP penalty from using it. Besides, I like items that balance useful/powerful positive effects with bad ones. I like that whole idea that magic isn't all positive, with good and bad effects.

As for what Parvini could buy for his bucks... Well, if you've any golders left after stocking up with everyone else's suggestions, just stock up on potions, scrolls and wands. Generally I never bothered, though, 'cos I never found I ever got round to using limited charge items ever anyway. Besides, I like to imagine gazing upon the marvellous glittering pile of shiny ones I've accrued...

If 'things' aren't what you want, donate it to any of the temples. :D

Perhaps buy what equipment you need instead of waiting till you find it. And you can give everyone a bow and stock up on expensive arrows for the fun of it.

If you use a thief (which you damn well better) then make sure to buy a hell of a lot of invisibility potions if you use the thief for backstab.

I can honestly say that I rarely have this problem. I always am going out and finding more money to buy the stuff I want. At least when I can avoid my compulsion to just cheet it out.
