[IMG] Duel of the fates. The main theme is also very good, but nothing compared to that one.

Bill Murrays rendition of the Star Wars theme that he did as lounge singer Nick Winters on SNL in the 70's.

    Star Wars
    Nothing but Star Wars
Gimme those Star Wars ... don't let them end!
    Ah, Star Wars
If they should bar wars, please let these Star Wars stay

    a recent rendition

[IMG] Imperial March baby!!! :tie: :borg: :tie:

I view Across the Stars and Duel of the Fates, equally, it just depends what mood I'm in.

But you can't just stop there, there's plenty more themes and tracks. Everything from the moment on Tatooine in ANH where Luke watches the binary sunset to Yoda's theme.

Did you know that the celebration music at the end of TPM is actually an upbeat version of the Emperor's Theme? That is genius! Palpatine's in that scene grinning from ear to ear, because he's recently been elected Supreme Chancellor.

Across the Stars is a variation of the Main Theme. Listen carefully, and you'll hear it. Appropriately so too, because it all goes back to Anakin and Padme.

All of the soundtracks are good, but if I based my decision on which is the most powerful, I'd go with ESB. The ESB soundtrack blows the roof off.

It gives us the most stunning SW battle track to date with the fourteen minute and forty eight second Battle of Hoth track (which features the Imperial March.) Then that's followed by the Asteroid Field Chase music. Hot dawg! Whimsical themes from Yoda to Cloud City. Then there's the music when Vader starts chucking boxes and crates at Luke with the Force, the music when the Falcon is rescuing Luke and escaping Cloud City and the TIE fighters :tie: . The last half of ESB never lets up on great SW music.

More great parts from the others include the Death Star trench run in ANH, most of the music while on the Death Star, the Rebel Awards Ceremony at the end of ANH (the best closing music before the credits roll, followed closely by AOTC's end music before credits), the music when Luke flips out over the Sarlaac Pit in ROTJ, the Shuttle Tydirium approaching Endor, Luke fighting Darth Vader and the Emperor watching, the Emperor frying Luke while Vader watches, the music when Qui-Gon skewers the Trade Federation doors with his saber, the final lap of the Podrace, the music that goes slow after the Podrace and climaxes when Qui-Gon is attacked by Darth Maul in the desert, the Trade Federation March, Anakin's theme, chasing Zam through the streets of Coruscant, rumble in the rain music with Jango Fett on Kamino, and finally Shmi's death and Tusken slaughter (most chilling music to date).

Wow, can you tell I like John William's SW music?

I've got the Star Wars episode IV, V, VI collectors boxed set soundtrack, and I don't know how many times I've listened to the Luke and Leia, Han and Leia, and Yoda's theme for a calm, relaxed atmosphere.
The Duel between Luke and Vader is a good track for P&P.

Big B, you really know your Star Wars.

[IMG] Wired Al Yankovik's parody - Don McLean's American Pie with Episode 1 inspired lyrics.

It's really quite good, especially if you know all the story lines (as you guys most probably do).

[IMG] The Main Theme song and Imperial March are without a doubt the most famous.

I also like the Cloud City song and the Death Star Trench one. Does anyone know where I can find these pieces (hopefully for download)? Now that the Big B has said the Phantom Menace music is actually the emperor’s theme, I want to hear it (for the first time: I never saw the end paying attention) They made it too obvious Darth Sidious is Palpatine. For heaven’s sake, they both have the same theme song!

The Original Trilogy rules! The new one is kid’s stuff…

There are, as far as I am aware, no songs in Star Wars. A song requires a vocal element - id est people, or a person, singing. What the topic refers to are the musical scores, or musical pieces, of Star Wars, and on this note, I pledge my support for The Imperial March.

Hmm, let's see, um, Imperial March and Duel of the Fates. There are other good pieces of music as well (most of it's decent) but those are my two favorites as of right now (I don't have the "Attack of the Clones" sound track yet so I can't say one way or another if I like any of the musical pieces from that particular movie.)

No "songs" in Star Wars? I think we need to freeze Sir Humphrey Appleby in a slab of carbonite and ship him to Jabba's Palace. ;) They may not have been people, but they were aliens singing.

And Duel of the Fates has vocals and lyrics:

    The lyrics are:

    Korah Matah Korah Rahtahmah
    Korah Rahtamah Yoodhah Korah
    Korah Syahdho Rahtahmah Daanyah
    Korah Keelah Daanyah
    Nyohah Keelah Korah Rahtahmah
    Syadho Keelah Korah Rahtahmah
    Korah Daanyah Korah Rahtahmah
    Korah Daanyah Korah Rahtahmah
    Nyohah Keelah Korah Rahtahmah
    Syadho Keelah Korah Rahtahmah
    Korah
    Korah Matah Korah Rahtahmah
    Korah Daanyah Korah Rahtahmah
    Nyohah Keelah Korah Rahtahmah
    Syadho Keelah Korah Rahtahmah
    Korah

    What do the lyrics mean?

The lyrics are a line from the Celtic poem "Cad Goddeu" ("Battle of the Trees"). The line goes "Under the tongue root a fight most dread, and another raging, behind, in the head." The lyrics themselves are Sanskrit, an ancient language that originated in India.

Not bad for something that's "just for kids" :p .
