[IMG] Okay, i looked at the new nirvana "best of" album in the shops the other day and after seeing the track list, i wondered, "Do any Nirvana fans really think that this album contains the best tunes that nirvana ever did?"

So there it is, that is the question.

I personally think that the new album should be labelled "The worst of Nirvana". There are so many other tracks that i would have chosen. If someone asked me to make a nirvana compilation, it would probably consist of: Scentless Aprentice, Serve the Servants, Blew, School, Mexican Seafood, Negative Creep, Downer... to name just a few - as these are the tracks i instantly associate with nirvana. I'd still probably keep the tracks from Unplugged as they are great.

Anyone care to add any comments??

[IMG] Download all the songs you mentioned from Kazaa and burn your own CD. Just make sure that Tal don't read this.

Actually any Nirvana album which will be/was released after Kurts dead will be ****ty, since they´re all commercialized crap.

You know you´re right was worth listening though, in a legal *ahem* way

Ive got all the albums anyway, but my quibble was with the choice of tracks making up the "best of".

But you're right about the fact that anything released post death is going to be on the duff side.

vermillion has forced me to right this in a more polite way, but perhaps the finest moment in music was when nirvana split, in my opinion mind you, i thought them to be a whiney little group that should probably try to figure out how to make songs sound differant, try some metallica, way better

[IMG] After an artist dies they get cashed in on in a big way. I'm surprised they waited this long :p . I haven't seen the track listing but I can guess whats on it.
I remember just after he killed himself Melody Maker ran a few things on him. One of these had a picture of a book cover with a sniper sight on a picture of him, the title 'Who killed Kurt Cobain' and the author name as Max Cash. This is typical.
They were influential, and had good music. What annoys me is all these people who never liked them years ago suddenly loving them, and the Skunts who never knew who they were running around wearing their shirts because it's cool to do so. Even after they absoloutely hated them and any fan of them years ago. I think most of them don't even remember their songs when they were being released.

Who you´re calling whiney, remember who sued Napster??

Metallica used to be good, before they started sueing

    Edit:
For the original question, well these songs are most played, hardly a few people will jump up when they hear "Serve the Servants" or another "almost forgotten" Nirvana song and say "Ey, dude, thats Nirvana".
The songs on the album are classics like "Smells like Teen Spirit", "Lithium", "Come as you are" and "Rape Me", they even included the IMHO best songs of the unplugged concert, this is just a album for the fans who never experienced "the old days" and not for the "die-hard fans".

[IMG] Metallica were good before Loaded and the hair cuts. As for the whiney part, did you ever read interviews etc with Kurt Cobain? He could be at times, and his songs too. That comes from someone who likes Nirvana, me ;) .

they wouldn't have, but Courtney Love and the band members had a little legal dispute about who owned the rights to the music (and thus, who would make money off it).
