[IMG] Since I'm having my Christmas-break right now and I'm home alone alot, I've been thinking (this is where it gets ugly.), am I weird?

I'm 15 and at an age where I start thinking "Where do I fit in?".

At school I'm classified as a nerd, and only useful to sit next to at a test.

Poppies (popular people) hate me because I'm not impressed by them.

Everybody else hates me because of the music I listen to (The Offspring rules!). They say that I "have to" listen to popular music to be cool.

But I don't want to be cool, I just want people to appreciate me for what I am.

    But what am I?

Ofcourse, I have about 5 real friends, with 4 I am in a band.

So, why does everybody hate me?

Ok, so I'm a bit overweight, I wear glasses and I like computers, does that automatically mean that I am incapable of everything else?

I once was badly in love with this girl, when I finally had mustered up the courage to talk to her she said that she liked me but "doesn't want to be seen with a nerd. Think of what her friends'll say."

Is it me or is that just f*cked-up?

    [/end]

  2. It's ok! No seriously, don't listen to what everyone else says. If you like Offspring, that's cool, cuz I like them too. You shouldn't be givin a f*ck about what other people say about your music. My bro puts me down by saying R&B and rap is crap, but at school I have to put up with everyone saying rock and metal is crap. And you can give your crush the finger cuz she can't sacrifice her friends just because she didn't want to be seen with you. Besides, if she acted like that, why would you want to go out with a snob anyways? But, you aren't very different than me, I wear glasses, I *love* computers(5 hours a day). I'm not overweight, but I *do* eat *a lot*. But if you like the way you are, why change it so *other* people can like you because it suits their style. So don't put yourself down to what other people say. Just be yourself.

Yeah, be yourself... You don't need to have a label on yourself with the name of yourself on it. Do what you like, listen what you like, wear what you like... there will sure be enough people to appreciate and like you that way.. and when they don't... they are not worth your friendship.

[IMG] You are 15 and are worried about girls? Then you are normal. :D

Anyways, don't be sad of what you can't do, but respect yourself for what you can do.

The only real solution is to pillory your foes with a poison pen. Dissect them in effigy in a thousand stories of rubes and self-important. Succeed.

I think you are completely normal. You sound like every other 15 year old so dont worry.

And is there really such a thing as poppies? Or nerds? I never saw a thing of such divide when I went in school. Sure some people hanged with eachother but nobody hated eachother. Atleast I dont think so I might have been completely blind.

Don't worry, you'll find your place. I think The Offspring is rather cool and they have some very good songs. If you like them, you should listen to them and don't listen to what the poppies call popular music. I always listen to music, which nobody in my class would even think of listening too. (Blues like B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Popa Chubby and 'oldies' like Queen, Meatloaf, just to name a few).
And so what if you are a little overweight and wear glasses. There is nothing wrong with that. Nobody's perfect.

In my opinion you are completely normal, so don't worry about it.

[IMG] IIRC there were not so many posts like this where people talk about themselves.

    Man, you're coo!

I like to kick down anything that is held pure and good from its' holy pedestal by bursting everyone's bubble or poisoning their ideals with subtle phrases and suggestions.
I like to backstab fellow soldiers that piss me off by spreading mild rumours and bad press about them among their peers and superiors and then slowly escalating it until said offender is screwed.
I will always play dirty in any conflict, be totally unscrupulous, and resort to any measure. The end justifies any means.
I cannot help but feel immense joy whenever someone suffers, no matter who that person is.
I have totally no, nil, zero, regard for human life. If the situation calls for it, I would gladly sacrifice a thousand infants for the sole sake of my personal benefit.
I am currently wrecking subtle havoc in my country by stirring up inter-racial hatred between the muslims and other races. Personally, I couldn't give a damn about them, but I am just borrowing Osama's efforts to aid my own in the downfall of my country.

The world needs evil bastards like me. Who can deny it? There is hardly enough death and suffering in the world to satisfy me yet. Heh.

Just borrowing your topic for my own rant. Hope you don't mind, eh, FS? The real life blackguard needs to unload his mind sometimes. Even we evil ones are human, perhaps even more so than the kindest and benevolent person, for we personify the true nature of the human race: EVIL.

    Dearest Shura,

the problem is that you're lying about yourself (for no aparent reason) and he does not.
Once when you find out that you should act in a way you feel and not in a way your "superiors" expect, then you'll find out the true human nature. And that's not EVIL.

Actually Extremist, humankind is evil. The only thing that is keeping us in check is the social restraints that our socitey inflicts upon us.

The expectations and hidden penalties for behaving in a way that is different from the norm in the society is what keeps us from killing, raping and stealing. Look at Afganistan, the people quickly adapted to a new society wich we find atrocious but for them were normal, in just a couple a months they will adapt our values if the new goverment is succesful.

Another good example is soldiers in war. The regular soldier is a male between age 16 to 30. Normal people like all of us, and yet in every war, on all sides the soldiers commit dispicable acts. This is something that have always happened and will always happen. The lack of a society to keep the individuals in check makes them run rampant. And if you add in propagande that makes the enemy to something less than human and the extreme pressure that a soldier face it is not surprising that they commit the acts that they do.

Disclaimer, I hope that I am wrong but I dont think so. We people are capable of terrible acts and the difference between us and the guard at Treblinka is lesser than we think.

    FSFunky,

Go your own way. From what you wrote, it appears that you are on the right track. Be yourself and if others don't like it, then that is there problem. You have the courage to be yourself. They lack this and resent you for it.

    "Shura",

Lame. Really lame. I hope you impressed yourself. You want to be a tough guy. You want to have power. You want to have control. Instead, you are just lame.

  20. FS FUNKY:Do you feel it too?So we are same.
But you are 15 and I am 17(by the year 2002 I will be 18)
Don't worry.Just be yourself(we could make a club of weird person).
