[IMG] I have managed to play Baldur's Gate only once in the last two weeks! Yes! My will power is increasing! I remember to shower! I eat regularly! SOMETIMES I GO OUTSIDE!

It was difficult, and it helped that I've been glued to the TV and radio since Tuesday, but I'm thankful that I no longer think to myself "mage spell" when my alarm goes off in the morning or have visions of turnip-laden gnomes wearing funny goggles.

The sad part is that I know that without a good rehab program I'll backslide. Anyone know of a twelve-step meeting?

or you could do what I did three weeks ago... get married. Trust me that will cut your playing time way, way down. It's a tortured life... sigh.

Lokken and Co: first you have the BG addiction. Takes some time. After you played many times and you gathered much knowledge, you don't like the game anymore for you are above the game then. Then you get addicted to these boards, and you also want to share your knowledge on the boards, for the game isn't that interesting anymore. That's the second part of the addiction. AT last you disappear... Everyone thinks you have found some new addiction. They all don't know that your skeleton is still on the chair behind the pc, with in front of you MiRC.

[IMG] My addiction is over. after 243 days and 11 hours...... I have finished the game. aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

What a relief. I am NOT purchasing any more of these games. They are time killers. Time is life. therefore... life enders. The end result of my adventuring?

    vision distortment
    bad dreams
    hooked on message boards
11 lbs of ass and gut
    loss of friends
    nothing tangible to remember
I have a 21st level skald and a bunch of cowled wizards plotting against me (can't wait to pick up the next instal... er... never mind)

thus, like all addictions which cause bad side effects, i have enrolled myself in the BG overplayers anonymous group and hereby vow never to touch that game again. Very much.

I finished the game this morning. A terrific ending, IMHO. But now that I've beaten it, there is no longer the drive to play as before. I actually highly doubt that my evil party will ever complete; perhaps not even get started. I have too much else to do. Particularly as recent events have reminded me how unimportant playing games is in the grand scheme of things.
