    Hi guys

In my last game Jaheira and Khalid was charmed by the sirens.

Since I was in a middle of the fight I charmed them right back with Algernons cloak. But when the charm run out they were hostile and through out the game I had to charm them again and again.

Now, I would prefer to avoid that another time through.

Is there anyway to do that? Cluaconsole or Gatekeeper or something like that?

    Thank guys!

I had this happen a couple of times. Gate Keeper did not help and I never learned how to use Cluaconsole but from what I have read about it it may work. I would imagin you could kill the hostile versions, resummon them with Cluaconsole and use Gate Keeper to put them back to thier level and hitpoints they had when you lost them.

So you're saying that because you charmed them AFTER they had been charmed once before (by the sirens), that they permanently become hostile characters?

Does the siren's charm never wear off in this chain?

For me the siren's charm wore off and then wwhen my charm wore of they became hostile. So now when a party member gets chaarmed I try Hold Person or Color Spray or run away.

Well they didn't have the charmed icon on their paperdoll, but yes, they was permanently hostile.

I tried to dispel them both by Dynaheir and a temple, but alas no luck. Rest didn't work either nor Remove Curse (well I was desperate).

I then tried to remove them from party and made them join again. That obviously didn't work :D

And I tried to kill them and CLUAConsole them again but then my game crashed with an error "An assertion failed in D:bad:Dev\Baldur\Objcreature.cpp at line number 8407"

as far as i have seen, if you cast charm on any npc, they become hostile when it wears off.

Well it doesn't seem to be a general rule, I have done it before without repercussions but maybe it is just me.

Would be nice though if I could reset some flag or something like that.

Yeah, I've charmed party members (with spells, NOT the cloak) after they get charmed and never had a problem.

    Exactly ister.

Every guide or walkthrough I have read says if your partymember is charmed, charm them right back.

If you haven't had problems charming charmed NPCs, you're very lucky. I've seen a number of complaints about NPCs (even the PC!) becoming permanently hostile when the charms wore off. The best thing to do with a charmed NPC is to Dispel the charm, not add yours on top of it.

    @Felinoid:

Oh I agree, dispel is the best way to go. If you have access to it by then, that is. Otherwise a Color Spray, Hold Person or Sleep spell is not an bad idea.

And I has probably been lucky. But if one is unlucky, and a NPC is hostile for one reason or another, how does one solve the problem? Is there some kind of flag which can be reset?

Well, if they're in your party it's surely a Charm spell, and you can just wait for it to wear off. Random NPCs, though, you just have to either kill or escape.

I had a PC become permanently hostile, I moved the saved game to to the multi player saved game folder reimported my PC from CHAR* file and used Gate Keeper to put them back to thier level and hitpoints they had before the mess-up.

I've always had baldurdash. Is it possible that baldurdash fixes this?

I really have done this many times without any problems.

You could try sword coast keeper, which is found in the baldur's gate hacks and trainers on this site. I remember there is something about clearing charm/beserk etc in it but if they are hostile and not charmed, then there is nothing i can do, though i always use the cloak to charm my charmed npcs and never had a problem with it.

Thanks for all your help guys.

But I solved it by remove them from my party and quickly talk to them again.

That worked fine after quite a bit try and errors. But I had to be really quick or Jaheira and Khalid just left forever.

I guess patience does pay off :)
