As for the AIM message that started this, it was kind of funny, but it annoys the heck out of me when everyone tries to say how stupid Bush is. Quick-witted and intelligent are NOT the same thing!! Sheesh...

 

I agree. Bush has some problems to show his emotions good on television, but he surely is intelligent and not dumb.

I don't know if you have noticed, but the joke that Azirath posted didn't have a map of North America with the inscription Iraq, Palestine, or Merry Land Of Islam Fundamentalism all over US territory, as a peace proposal.
The joke that Azirath posted did't have a picture with Americans praying with the inscription: "Say your prayers and kiss your ass goodbye"...
And no, the joke wasn't on the US.
That joke was making fun out of a terroristic lunatic and the current president of United States (who is a stupid man IMHO, but that doesn't matter at all)...

And Shralp, yes your reason knows no bounds.
Those counrties didn't immediately jump to help the US, so that means they must be full of terrorists! So, why should we waste a perfecty good parking space?
And while we are making parking spaces, let's grab a chance and turn Georgia, or Armenia into Israel and force our way of peace! Very good...

 

Elendil, how can you think that wasn't a "joke on the US"? It quotes bin Laden's arguments for why he attacked the U.S., and Bush's only response is "oic." Give me a break.

And you completely fouled up my comments about the timing of it. I didn't say "immediately." I said "at the time." You'll notice that Kuwait and Turkey, both Arab countries if you didn't know, are made exceptions. I suppose if I redid it today I would add Uzbekistan, Tajikstan, and maybe Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Oh, and Armenia wasn't on my map at all.

And we once again see someone with an anti-American chip on his shoulder equate Americans and Israelis with terrorists. After all, they're all the same. Americans just kill people differently, right?

 

One little statement here. Turkey isnt a arab country and while we are at it neither are Afghanistan. Both are islamic countries but not arab there is distinction.

Shralp, I think that you are missing the point that the joke is making fun out of two people: the insane terrorist Osama Bin Laden, and Bush, who has been made fun of on several occasions starting from the elections he won in a very, very uncanny way. I doubt that the joke has any intent of making fun out of any victims of the tragedy or out of the United States as a whole.

This situation is extremely complicated and if you are wondering if there are reasons why some Arabs, Muslims and such are pissed off at the US, there are. But, do such reasons grant the killing of innocent civillians? Of course not. Does anything grant the killing of innocent civillians? Of course not. The people who are doing that are driven by despair, madness, bloodlust and a huge will to harm the oponent which HAS harmed them.

Okay, then you said that I foiled up your little comments about your timing. Well, nevermind that, because nothing gives you the right to represent any coutry's territory as a parking space or as some other country's protectorate and then trying to sell that as humor with the insignia "our peace proposal".
You should also know that Pakistan agreed to help and even gave the license for war on it's territory and airspace. Same with almost every country that has a border with Afghanistan. Some countries have remained neutral, like Egypt or Iran, condemming the terrorism but opposing any global anti-arabian actions. Irak, on the other hand, has supported and hailed the terroris attacks, but we all know that another madman has got the control in it. Regardless, like I said a million times, that does not give you the right to represent the whole countries as parking space and such.
The only right the US has is punish the terrorists and terrorists only. Not the whole Middle East.

Then, you said that Armenia wasn't on your list. I do sound like a wiseass, but check your map again. See the little green Israel in between Turkey and the yellow Israel by the Caspian Sea? That's Armenia.

And, I am not an anti-American or one of your "Euro-whiners". I'm not equating Americans and Israelis with terrorists. But Shralp, there is more to it than just your point of wiev. No, America isn't perfect. I disagree strongly and loudly with some of the foreign policy positions we've taken in the past (like that pussy Clinton sending cruise missles to knock out a Sudan aspirin factory). The bin Laden character gives reasons for why he did what he did -- he just wanted someone to pay attention to him and all stupid America did was desecrate his land and ignore him -- while Bush is portrayed as a bumbling idiot who's hitting on women in another window.

I'm beginning to think it'd be ideal if we just withdrew all our troops from overseas and quit giving aid to foreign countries. Some of you people have NO idea what would become of the world if the U.S. didn't throw its weight around sometimes. Do you people know how often we've bailed out the Euro BEFORE IT'S EVEN BEEN ISSUED AS HARD CURRENCY? Do you Eastern Europeans have any idea how quickly you would've been steamrolled if America hadn't been there to counter the USSR?

I don't expect you to lick our asses over it, but for crying out loud you could AT LEAST not laugh when a bunch of internet assholes make fun of us.

 

Shralp, I see that you're missing something here. Let me explain. The thing where you say that I'm equating terrorists and Americans is irony on YOUR stupid quasi-jokes about "peace offers" and "parking space".
I said a million times that I don't justify the attack. No, I don't feel good at all that "big old nasty Americans finally got put into their place", because that wasn't the thing that happened. What happened was that innocent people lost their lives and that is horrible.

I don't consider the joke to be good because it makes fun of America. In my opinion it doesn't make fun of America at all, it just makes fun out of two stupid people. It isn't the first time that your president is portrayed as a bumbling idiot. It is not the first time that he is being mocked and it surely isn't the last time either. Like I said, it started much, much sooner. The arguments that Bin Laden gives are valid and they are true, but they don't grant the right for terrorism. Nothing does. I think it is clear that he is crazy in that joke as he is in real life.
And if that makes you pissed, than imagine how pissed am I when you post a map of entire countries turned to Isreali protectorates or US parking spaces. Or when you post a picture of Muslims praying with the label "bend over and kiss your ass goodbye". That is a rasisic, nazi point of view so-called humor.
So, when you say that it isn't right to post a joke like the one that Azirath posted (and which wasn't against the US, or the US territory, or the citizens of the US) and then you go and post your shit which really does deserve to be called "shit", you're being one nasty hypocrite...

And now something about America being the saviour of the world. Shralp, I'm not going to put down Marshall's plan after the World War II, but I am going to say that Americans didn't do that because they couldn't stand watching poor Europeans suffer. No, the US wanted to have allies against the USSR and was acting out of it's best interest, not filantropism. And I do wonder what could have been with the world if the US didn't throw their weight around by supporting the spreading of Israel over Palestinian territory, or by making puppet states to support it's own oil interests in the Middle East, or by blocking Iraq totally in an attempt to overthrow Saddam but resulting in mass hunger and death of Iraqian civillians.
And about Eastern Europe: you say that we would be steamrolled by the USSR if America wasn't there to counter the US. Let me tell you something, you didn't counter the USSR because of us or any other country, but because of yourself. So, don't YOU give me that shit.
Do you think that the US wanted stalinism to spread all over Eastern Europe? No, of course. Why? Because it was concerned about the well being of the people who might loose the benefit of democracy? No. Because it didn't want to allow the USSR to grow in power, which could result in America taking the inferior place.
So Shralp, the US goes by it's own interests, same as any other country, and it does get it's hands dirty along the way. Understand that.

About Euro, I don't know what do you mean by "being issued as a hard currency". Euro has been on the lists for some times, but it still isn't in the monetary system. It is going to be released (I can't find a better word) in January next year, in certain countries respectively. I don't know what you the US did to stabilize Euro, but I know that the EU helped stabilize the Dollar, after the terrible tragedy. Again, why? Because they all have their own interests in it.

And, at the end, I am going to repeat again that I don't support terrorism and that I am not an anti-american, but there are always 2 sides of an argument...

First of all Shralp I don`t show my colors with that joke, because that doesn`t mean anything. Do you really tink that knowing that one crazy motherfucker like Osama Bin Laden has the power to commit a horrible crime like that makes me happy?! Or that he indeed did commit it?! Only a really sick person would do something like that and I would have to be even more sick to like it! I sympathise with the American people and the families of those who died in the WTC because I know how does it feel. I tehnicly grew up in a bomb shelter. But that still doesn`t change the fact that you have a rasistic attitude on Arabs.
