Of course Lord of the Rings!

Besides that? What about The Labirynt (is that how you spell it?)with David Bowie? A classic I'm sure... Ladyhawk is great too, Baldrak! I loved it!

[IMG] I could tell that just from its cover. Before LOTR, I'd say Willow was definitely the best. Princess Bride was good, but it's not strictly fantasy, as it's more of a comedy.

By the way, did you know Lucas wrote a trilogy to follow up Willow? It's called the Shadow War Chronicles. Not too bad.

I think of SW as 75% fantasy and 25% sc-fi. But it aside, what else does anything for pure fantasy than LOTR? Harry Potter does IMHO, but again it's fantasy with a twist. Willow I haven't seen more than ten minutes. I need to see it. Princess Bride is great. I love that one!

Conan the Barbarian. Perhaps it seems to be naive with today standards but when it was released, it was the first of its kind.

Could the crow qualify as fantasy? in that case the crow beats any fantasy. But then again I think that fantasy is primarily for reading.

Maybe not exactly the kind of fantasy you mean but I loved- Shrek!

I thought Final Fantasy was amazing in its visuals.

What was the name of that Ethan Hawke/Uma Thurman movie??? Great!

I liked the first Highlander movie too

LOTR outshines all the other fantasy movies. But here are some others that I thought were cool:

    Krull
    Excalibur
    Time Bandits
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
    Beastmaster (just the first one)
    Labyrinth
    City of Lost Children
    Willow
    The Adventures of Baron Munchasen

Definitely LOTR, nothing compares to it.
Merlin's not that bad though (the one starring Sam Neil) and the music in it is just incredible.

Of course, I thought Princess Bride was one of the stupidest movies I've ever seen (the book's even worse).

I know it is a TV show but Xena took fantasy to a whole new level, if you know what I mean.
