My favorites are: 'sit vis nobiscum'-may the force be with you, 'canis meus id comedit'-my dog ate it, 'si hoc legere scis, nimium eruditionis habes'-if you can read this, you have too much education; and my personal favorite: 'quantum materiae materietur marmota monax si marmota monax materiam possit materiari?'-how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

This one's a hit at parties after the first or second bottle of wine (per person). I will allow you to puzzle out the translation for yourselves.

I don't really know latin, nor is it an ambition of mine to actually start learning it, but I kinda liked the movie "Event Horizon", where this phrase is used. In the movie it's translated into "save yourself from hell"... (Sounds like a neat trick)

 

'Tempus Edax Gaga Edacior'

I have a poster on my wall that has this text as a motto. It means something like: time destroys, madness destroys more... It could be a nice text for under my future avatar

A pretty valid line dont you think?
Another classic that reeks of pure arrogance is 'Veni, vidi, vici' which Caesar said after defeating the King of Pont. I came, I saw, I concquered. A man needs balls to say something like that

'Cui Bono', whom does it benefit is a phrase everyone should keep in mind when they look at the world.

And another Ceasar qoute:

This is what he said when crossing the Rubicon. It means 'the die has been cast' and I use it in p&p AD&D occasionally...

The only non-ecclesiastical Latin I can remember is 'E Pluribus Unum,' which is on all US currency.
