Warhammer

    [​IMG] We all have the love for the ad&d worlds in common, but how many of you like the old world as well? It might be easy to say, that the warhammer world is just a rip-off, but I'll argue, that it has had a deep inpact on the fatasy genre.

    As an example: Before warhammer, goblins and orcs where described in many ways. Sometimes they where black while other times they where red and so on. Now they are all green, and it's been a while since I've seen an orc or goblin in another colour.

    This is ofcourse quite naturally, when you consider the quantity of visual stuff in warhammer. It's a miniature game, while ad&d takes place in your imagination. Anyway, enough of my rantings and on to my fellow warhammers!

    Hey there. My introduction to fantasy games was through Warhammer. I played Empire, and many of my preconcieved notions about dwarves are taken from Warhammer. On the Orc and Goblin front, didn't Tolkien suggest that Orcs and Goblins were the SAME?

    Don't know, haven't read much tolkien. But notice how the goblins in bg2 resembles the ones from warhammer.

    Yes Orcs and Goblins were the same according to Tolkien. He started calling them Orcs because Goblins could be associated to so many other stories before him. Is there some warhammer computer games that are good?...Do you have any suggestions?

    If you want to play Warhammer games, go get Warhammer: Dark omen. It's a bit old, but still a good game. There is also a Warhammer online game under development.

    I never played the Warhammer thing with figures. My Warhammer experience was with the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. It was my first expereince of P&P and still my favourite system to use. Mind you that probably had alot to do with having a really good DM.

    Unfortunatley I haven't had a chance to play the system for a long time. My poor rule book is just sat gathering dust on the bookshelf.

    My sentiments exactly Slappy. I also started out with the Warhammer Roleplay System and it remained my favourite system until a couple of years ago :( (My rulebook is also gathering dust in a cupboard somewhere). It does definately help if the DM knows what he/she is doing.
