    Does anyone enjoy playing a Wizard Slayer? If you take a look in the "What's up with the Wizard Slayer" thread,
    noone seems to enjoiy playing one.
    Oh, well, I guess some ppl will complain on me now for this thread... :aww:

    I certainly won't complain.
    I like all classes including bad mouthed Priest of Ilmater.

    What I don't like is spitting on classes just because you can't "feel" what is good with them and what is not. If you can't squeeze out maximum from the class you're using, the problem is definetly not with the class.

    Besides that I don't like drooling over so called "prestige" classes nor cheating to give your class abilities that are not by the game rules. And I mean the game rules here, not d&d rules.

    Finally, Wizard Slayer is just another class you may play with or not and that means you may like it or not. But noone said you must hate it because someone says it sucks. If you've never tried to finish the game with the hero that is Wizard Slayer - you're the last person I would ask for opinion on that class. Keep your kensai/mage, I hope you have much fun with it.

    I find it have some interest. I don't have much to say about it but there is something that I don't think anyone mentionned: His ability to disrupt spell casting pass through stoneskin (for that I'm sure) and maybe mirror image. So if you hit three time a mage "stone skinned", he will have 30% spell casting failure.

    [IMG] Personally I started a wizard slayer and an archer. I actually found the archer to be better in supressing enemy mages than the wizardslayer so I eventually found no point in keeping the latter, and with my cavalier and barbarian I had 2 splendid melee fighters already - no place for another one ... you see I'm a hopeless powergamer :D

    But for a party that hasen't a capable ranged or melee fighter a ranged combat wizard slayer is certainly a useful adition.

    I had a fair amount of fun with my dart wielding wizardslayer. That was pretty amusing, though keeping enough ammunition in supply initially was fairly ugly. You blow through those little stacks of 20 really fast. :) The main problem with wizardslayer isn't that its not effective or fun, its that it doesn't really do anything you can't do as well or better some other way. Personally, that doesn't bother me, but plenty of people do think it makes the character a waste.

    The magic resistance per level is doubled with the patch. That is my experience. The Half-orc solo wizardslayer, was my most interesting character yet. He survived to spellhold without a reload. So yes; I "like" wizardslayers. Irrational or not.

    Cool, mayby I'll try one :D. After all, all the kits are capable of surviving. Very balanced classes, races and kits IMO. Oh, well...

    Cheers mates!

    (I ended up playing one too, and I don't regret it.)

    the only time i completed bg2 was with a wizard slayer. Initially it was hard as he couldn't use magical items and spells such as haste and cure (i think a patch came out that stopped this) would sometimes be resisted. Later on when he had massive magic resistance he was good because spell casters no longer become a problem and many of the higher level enemies are magic users.
    There are possibly more powerful kits available but the wizard slayer is definitely an interesting challenge

    [IMG] Try to start a human Wizard Slayer, and place 5 stars at the long bow slot. Dual to mage and it will act as a specialist one (extra spell at every level) It can attack and hit a mage 3 times before that could cast his/her spell... This character is very usefull especialy in multiplayer...
    But you can get rid of the enemy mages using your thief or assassin too.

    A Wizard Slayer/Mage? Say, isn't that a bit hypocritical?

    Hypocritical, yeah that is true! I think this combination is a real stuff of powergamers. If you don't want to use your mage as a front line warrior (kensai/mage) the wizard slayer/mage is a good choice. You may replace with fighter/mage this case you won't get to much spells, or a swashbuckler/mage this case you can use only short bows, and crossbow...

    Next question is that, how would a wizard slayer/thief work? Backstab a mage and attack immediately if it is still alive? Not too likely...

    Well i am really enjoying this post, infact the comment on the wizard slayer/mage was quite intertaning. As a wizard slayer mage... can you still use specialized weapons like 5 stars in long sword ect.

    I've never played a Wiz Slayer/Mage, though I have played a Kensai/Mage and I put
    ++++ Katana
    ++ Two Weapon Style
    in the beginning and I lost those temporary when I dual-classed. I got those back when I got lvl 15 Mage (I dualled at lvl 14). Then after that I was able to achive Grand Mastery with both Katana and War Hammer and I had three stars in two weapon. Don't know if this is a bug though.
