The game is easier if you take 6 party members, but my friend beat it with 2.

If your party is Good- take Minsc, Jahiera, Nalia, Aiere, and Imoen(in chapter 4).

If you are Evil- Korgan, Edwin, Viconia, or even Minsc( he usually won't leave you if your reputation gets low ).

as I have posted elsewere it is possible to get along with a combined party of both good and evil.

    My party is:

    Minsc
    Aerie
    Nalia
    Keldorn
    VICONIA
    (elven archer)

By the way it is really funny when Viconia makes fun of Minsc and his tattoo. Keldorn and Viconia hates each other but must of the time it is not really a problem. Anyway, sometimes they get into a fight and you will have to reload...
This, of course is annoing, but except you are a paladin you will need Keldorn. Viconia is just so cool with a strenght modifier that you really donĀ“t want to leave her behind

[IMG] Take Jan into your good party as one of your members. He isn't evil just misunderstood.
    You won't regret it ;)
Also as a thief he can steal some mighty good stuff from shops (who needs money) and pickpocket main characters (before they give your the item) so you get 2 of the best items in the game (rings, weapons etc).

    JAN JAN HE'S OUR MAN

Jahiera, Minsc, and Ariee are mainstays of a good party. Jan is a nice choice. Keldorn is good just to wield the Holy Avenger. If you wan to boost Imoen's experience, I prefer her as my mage/thief. Does anyone else think this game has way to many mage/thiefs of some sort. Wish they would have spent some time creating decent fighters instead.

Anyway, where was I. Oh, for an evil party, the only characters I'm taking are evil ones. Edwin and Korgan are a must, but the juries still out on Vionca. Hoping I can tun Anomen down the path of evil and have a protege for my fighter D priest of Talos:]I'd create a main and two other characters for an evil party.

    Question:
IS Viconia a good NPC (haven't tried using her yet) despite her low strength?

    Another Question to Soulfly:
won't Mazzy and Jan be mad when you do something evil? I know they will because they are of good alignment.

My first steps at this board..., feels kind of scary...at first,

If Viconia is a good NPC you ask? Of course she is. She has a wisdom of 18 (!!), that means all bonus spells. Also she has magic resistance and she is an evil cleric. An evil cleric can control undead instead of turning them!

    Nuff said,

[IMG] Hey! No one have mentioned Valygar! He's really powerful with two katanas, and this guy looks like to really enjoy freedom. cool way of life, no? (i don't like minsc with boo, because it's always the same thing: "boo here, Boo there, we are heroes boo, boo, boo, always boo every minutes......" tssss.... pathetic.....).

And what about Haer'Dalis? he's anoying when he speaks but whith the stoneskin spell and with two short swords (plus the spiral attack).... just try, and you'll see :)
He can even replace Minsc since with stoneskin spell he is invulnerable to physicals attacks (when a monster try to slay him, my kensai is reaaaally happy :)

And, Cernd? huh? .... good question...

I see that everyone seems to like Aerie, but ... a cleric/mage... odd thing no?
tons of spells, but few of use....
Same thing for jaheira... she's less anoying than BG but she's not going to be really powerfull through the game...

Heres my party after returning from Spellhold:

    Me (Dwarf beserker)
    Minsc
    Jaheira
    Anomen
    Nalia
    Imoen

(And thank god, I just kick Yoshimo' ass.)

    They are very efficient together.

My party when I finished the game

    -Kjel'tor (undead hunter)
    -Korgan
    -Imoen
    -Edwin
    -Viconia

I had Cernd, but because he can't wear any armor, he died.

Although I have yet to beat the game (or pay my fee to hit Chapter 3), my party has been fairly consistent for the past few quests.

    Grub (Barbarian)

This is my character, a Half-Orc Barbarian decided before I had purchased the game. My reasoning was I wanted to play a class and race that spanned from the 3rd Edition Rules and after playing as a Paladin in BG1 and IWD I was sick of them. Period.

    Korgan (Berserker)

I love dwarves and it's a shame he's the only one who can join your party. They're excellent fighters and I simply love their attitude. Although he is evil, he fits well with my own character Grub, who does the right things for the quest at hand, but all the wrong things when it doesn't reflect our quest. Korgan is deadly with an axe and having two in either of his hands, 5 star prof in axes, he's a mean sucker to take down.

    Minsc (Ranger)

Pfft. I killed him in BG1 because he was so annoying. Ranting and raving about his hamster which came from space and Boo this, Boo that. I ended up hating his character and he had an accident with my sword. Thankfully, he's improved for BG2 and his racial hatred is that of Vampires and alongside of the ever so famous "Talking Sword", fits the bill just right. For safety measures, he carries a bow and some arrows.

    Valygar (Stalker)

I can't even seen this guys portrait anymore because he's littered with protections, both from his personal equipment and that of what I have found in my travels. He is one I can count on with two weapons and his resistances when I need it the most. By far, Grub and Valygar together can waste most foes alone while the rest of my party chills.

    Jaheira (Fighter/Druid)

Loyalty is a strong selling point for me and she has been as such through BG1 and BG2 and will remain with me. I have seriously enjoyed the Harpers Quest and the flavour she has brought to the party with those quests and her attitude towards them, which Grub has a liking for. Equiped with armor, shield and a scimitar, alongside of her abilities to cast magics during battle, she can stand on her own when you need her to.

    Aerie (Mage/Priest)

Her own personal weakness and inferiority complex is shadowed by her ability to weave both wizard and priest spells and is my magical tank whenever I need it. With glasses of identification and items that help raise the number of spells she can memorize she is an asset. Although I am gearing towards one more mage in my party to help back her and the rest of the party up, she has been able to help me when I needed it the most and so far, needing a second mage has not crossed my mind.

    Syl...

    [IMG] Here's mine:

    -Taluntain (Conjurer)
    -Minsc
    -Jaheira
    -Anomen
    -Aerie
    -Nalia

Works like a charm for me. Nalia in this case being used purely as a thief with the best armor and not as a spellcaster at all. (Or only for Knock sometimes).
Anomen is also another one that could be replaced by someone stronger, but I like having another useful cleric.
The rest are for keeps. (For me anyway).

I just finished, and I must say the game was great (sort of cut a chunk out of my real life tho!)

    I finished with:

    Lord Moeken: me,Monk
    Minsc
    Keldorn
    Imoen
    Nalia
    Jaheira

These NPC's served me well, although I imagine any character that is properly equipped will do just fine. I never did get as close to Jaheira as I had hoped, but I guess she is just a slow mover. I had Yoshimo for awhile and I liked his snare ability, but I swapped him for Imoen (damn)

I'm starting again with a Kensai/Mage, and a slightly more evil party, (Jan,Korgan,Viconia) but I'm finding that I got quite attached to my original party and have a hard time letting them go.

I have my cavalier and priest of lathander that I created.
    Then I have
    Keldorn
Mazzy (whom I just picked up by giving up Jaheria, I had to many clerics an not enought fighers.)
    Jan
Aerie (whom I like a lot)
I wish too that I had known it was so easy to get clerics and mages in BG2, unlike BG1. I so would have created my game differently. I have given up and taken on three different people since the game started and am still wondering if I shouldn't trade Mazzy for Hardalis when I go into the sphere after him.

I don't see my character as being evil really. He's more of an elf that doesnt like being pushed around, and doesn't see everything he does as Evil, or Righteous. I don't do many things that are "evil", neither do I do all the "good" things that I could. I expect ample rewards for everything I perform that is "good", and if its an "evil" thing, its even more of a reward that is needed to entice him.
