[IMG] OK, I've heard that Biff shows up if you reject Viconia. I like her so I've never rejected her. ANYWAY, I was "storing" my pack-mules - I mean my npcs - in one of the bars in B's Gate, and Biff showed up. I needed another pack-mule so I let him join. However, his clones kept showing up so fast that my machine locked --- so G'damn bad that I had to start ALL OVER - yah, I was "locked-out" of ALL my saves! Kept getting some kinda "Error; cannot load...." message.
So now my SH-- list reads:
    "Death to all..."
    1.) Biffs!
    2.) Drizzts!
    3.) Swill-guzzling paladins!
P.S. IF you use the cheats, you get to kill Drizzt as many times as you like. HeHeHeHeHe

OK, I've spent most of the day reading people's posts (and WAITING for some answers!) and I've come up with more most hated:
    Elminster
    Harpers(all, inc. Jaheira and Khalid!)
    Kenders
    Tanis Half-elven
    Fizban
Anyone else who ain't ME(Lord of Dark Elves, & eater of Lloth's foul brain!)

Hey, Ace, I think I've read somewhere that Biff is just there to help the dialogue flow. At some point the script needs a third person for the dialogue to move on (why I don't know) and that's why Biff shows up. I am pretty sure I saw this in an article but I can't remember where...

Maybe so, but I was trying to re-enlist Eldoth so I could go get Skie, and he totally disrupted the dialogue....Then, as I said, he caused my game to lock---Dirty, rotten &$*%^*

According to the comments I read at www.eeggs.com about Baldur's Gate, Biff is a character that was created to replace a character that was killed or otherwise unavailable when they were needed for the plot. Hence, the term "understudy". So if you, say, accidently kill an NPC with a stray fireball and you start a converstation with someone else that normally would have the killed NPC join in that converstation, Biff the Understudy should show up to fill in the lines so you can move on with the plot.

Edited to add direct link to the page I'm refering to: http://www.eeggs.com/items/2043.html
