I've never played a Sorcerer in BG2 as I don't play Mages and there are no Sorcerer NPCs, but if BG2's Sorcerers are anything like IWD2's Sorcerers, then it's a far better class than the standard (or Specialist) Mage.

[IMG] I dont think that you can duel class a sorcerer, however you can duel class a mage with a fighter, thief or a cleric. :D

No! a sorcerer cannot dual class. A mage cn cast a larger number of spells per a day but has to memoris them and is limited to casting the memorised spells.
At 17th level a specialist mage can cast 6 level 1 spells a day, a sorcerer can cast five but can only learn four or five spells a spell level.
Baisicly mages are more flexible in terms of being able to prepare for certain encounters.

A mage is more versatile, but a sorcerer is better with a row spell power. Mage is perhaps better against single opponent, but a sorcerer is better against a horde of weak or medium ones.

Sorcerers can pick Any spell from the level when they get access to new spells. However if a mage can't find the scroll he can't pick that spell. Sorcerers are good for offensive and some defensive, but it is a waste (IMHO) to use them for non-combat stuff - identify, divination spells in general, in a way summoning as well.

    Just my opinions.
