[IMG] I have an opinion question:
Is it more worthwhile to play all of BG 1 for a character when starting BG 2, or to start BG 2 with a new player?

Please let me know your opinion so I can decide...

If you're just starting then I'd suggest going on and creating a new character. You'll get more options to choose from as far as class goes.

I can't see any reason for wanting to import a BG1 character, because (I think) if you create a new character in BG2 they automatically begin with the maximum experience available in BG1 (does that make sense?).

However, if you're more interested in story and plot, I would then suggest playing through BG1 just for the mere fun of it.

    Hope this helps.

[IMG] That depends on what class/kit you want to play as some are unavailable in BG1. You do end up with more XP by playing BG1 first: i.e. the XP cap on TotSC is higher than the starting XP in SoA.

If you play from BG1 then you can get the golden pantaloons and they will appear in the game so you can make the BMU

Plus, if you play through BG 1 you can get all of your stats increased! This is a big plus. I would reccomend playing through BG 1 with your character. Unless, of course, you want to play with a kit that is not offered in the original Baulders Gate, like Kensi.

There is one other important thing: BG1 contains tomes that increase your stats permanently. When you play the game, you will end with +1 on Strength, +1 on Dex, +1 or +2 or +3 on Wisdom (depends on how you handle a quest, and one tome is in ToTSC), +1 constitution, +1 charisma and +1 on Constitution. This really is worth playing BG first, especially when you want to play a solo game.

And besided, BG is a great game so why not play it?!

[IMG] Thank you for all the advice-
    One last question:

Where are the pantaloons found and what was that item that they make in BG2?

    Thanks!

Never played BG1, so I don't know where they can be found. However, *spoiler coming*, the ransom for the aristocrat in the gravedigger's quest is another part of the pantawhatevers. They do not make anything 'til ToB, so unfortunately in this forum I can't elaborate.

    Worth it, though.

A nobleman inside the Friendly Arm inn will give them to you, if you pretend to be there to wash them. And even if you want to play a kit, you can play bg with the normal class, then switch to the kit in bg2. You'll keep the stat boosts and all that.
