I was wondering if anyone on this board chose their names for a certain reason? Does ur name have a background or a profile?
Reply to this post and let us know why u chose ur name.

    The Kurgan

Murderous Barbarians from the Plains of Russia. They have no mercy or emotion and are beserkers in battle.

"There is one thought that crosses my mind in battle and that is Pain. If i still feel pain, it lets me know i am still....Alive.

[IMG] Kurgan - Thanks for the compliment on the name choice! I've always liked it.

I minored in history in undergrad with a concentration in Ancient Rome. I wrote a paper about his retaking of the Rome and most of the Western Empire. I also wrote a hypo that he could have challenged Justinian for the Empire with the power he'd amassed...But he didn't.

I figured that's the epitomy of honor, duty and loyalty...Kinda Paladin-like traits!

P.S. Kurgan is a pretty cool name too! He was a bad man!

Memnoch the Devil was the fourth in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and I loved the way he stalked Lestat and took him to Heaven and Hell. Anne Rice is a killer writer and I loved the ambiguity of Memnoch's character, he really was the Fallen Angel.

burntime is an anagram of my real name - in the game i tend to call my main character silly things like "the herald of death!", as it makes the dialogue strangely surreal

Desiderata is the title of a poetic piece of writing that I have on a scroll at home, I don't know it's origins but it is quite beautiful.

The word "desiderate" means to desire or want.

Mine's the name of one of my characters. My favorite one actually. It was in the best campaign of D&D I ever played in. He's a LG dwarven fighter/cleric (Champion) and he's on a quest to gather as much information about the Shadowmasters as he can (they hurt his clan pretty bad). He was charged by a High Priest of Moradin to help the clan seek revenge and that's what he's doing :)

Another name i like to use, that actually i've used since the beginning when i started joining Diablo Guilds and Starcraft alike.

    The name is Arcane

Arcane is Earthly magic, its unpredictable and very powerful, it is said if Mastered there Arcane spells that can destroy worlds.

If u read the book in the Dragonlance series when the King Dwarf destroyed Fistandulas. During that time Fistandulas predicted 3 powerful arcane spells that will destroy the world. He only did 2 of them, the 3rd one would of been the apocalytptic, but as legend tells it. The Dwarf King destroyed Fistdandulas before he could perform such an act.

Beorn is the name of the shape-shifting woodsman who houses Bilbo, Gandalf and the dwarves in The Hobbit. He's a big brutish fellow, and I dig his name a lot.

Xarfai is an Archdemon from a pen and pencil role playing game from Germany called "Das Schwarze Auge" (DSA) well to be exactly he is the Archdemon of war and murder. I like his name because it is short and strong and he is one mean killing machine!

In my gaming I tend to use the name Clayton Lightsheer. "Clayton" in honor of someone close to me who passed on and "Lightsheer" is the opposite of Darksheer which was an old game from years ago.
Hey Kurgan (thanx for the info about the name, thought it was cool), which book about Fistandantilus were u refering to? For some reason I do not think I have read that story and I thought all involving him and Raistlin were cool.
B/T/W I am kinda dissappointed in these games because I had just recently finished ShadowDale, and now I know what the outcome of the Godswar is. But to pose a question, anyone know which book Bhaal dies in?

Greetings! I'm back after a slight problem with my computer.
Shura means 'violence'or 'demonic' in Japanese and was used to describe swordsmen who lived a life of violence admist the peasants. Miyamoto Musashi, a legendary swordsman in ancient Japan was said to have 'walked the path of the Shura'.
    Oh well, just my babbling.

    Eternal Paladin

Hmmm....Let me go see my collection of Dragonlance books i'm sure i have it, if not, wait...i think its coming to mind..yes...The Title of the book had Thrombardin in it, the great Home of the Dwarves.

The story is told in that book, but the book is about a dwarf who has ancestery to the King Dwarf who killed Fistandulas, so basically he goes through a bunch of stuff, i believe this book is happening at the time of the First Dragonlance War, and that is the one with Human...so its really far in the past which makes it cool..

[IMG] Erran is derived trom Tolkein speak. It would translate into common as "he who walks alone" Like most of my characters who 'lose' NPCs along the way.

Wow, I wish there was such a rich history behind my name. It's from the game "SiN," the name of the evil corporation. But I always play an evil character, so I guess it all fits together..

[IMG] Thaumas, corruption of the common name Thomas (which is not my name). 'Thauma' is Greek and means 'miracle' or 'wonder'. Thaumaturgy = working miracles, i.e. magic

A Thaum is the basic unit of magical strength. It has been universally established as the amount of magic needed to create one small white pigeon or three normal sized billiard balls.

Atraikius came from a very bad drunken misspronunciation of atrocity while I was DMing for some buddy's while I was in the Navy. He was the first villian I ever had that actually became personally hated by the players, to the extent that I had to keep multiple copies of his record sheets because every time the players could get ahold of the sheet they were tearing it up/burning/flushing/etc so they would have to dael with him anymore. Since then, I recreate him every time I play a evil character.
