POLL: Worst NPCs

Honestly, if you feel that Cernd, H'D, or Aerie are too weak- give 'em the #%&ing Girdle of Fortitude. By the way, I would NOT consider Cernd weak when he shapeshifts into a werewolf. -2 AC, 96 HP, and 23 damage a pop. Not too shabby.
And consider his advantages as a GREATER WEREWOLF.

He makes a great druid, which is his role, just like Aerie and Nalia, who are spellcasters. If you have them dying, it's because you're probably putting them on the front lines whacking away with a piece of enchanted wood. For goodness sake, use spells, or at least use stoneskin, mirror image, and strength for combat!
    Rrrr....
    :flaming:

Sorry, have to let something out.
No one get pissed. . .

[IMG] It's very saddening that in Baldur's Gate 2 Bioware has successfully decreased the size of the 'world' instead of bulemically engineering a copy of the first one. The NPC's are few and all part of the 'Master Plan', so you never get to search and destroy through massive forests like in BG1 - never get to find random NPC's and do short little quests that most people never found, but conquered the game anyway. The game is very straightforward, and, sadly, the NPC's are, too.

[IMG] Alright - here we go.
The best character is that thief guy you meet in the first part because he's neutral and can stick with you the whole way through. I think that the lady in the tavern who wants to go to the troll fortress is a horrible character and Anomen probably abuses small animals blah blah blah (what we want to hear, is it?) blah blah blah...

    The theif is Yoshimo.

And whatever you were saying about Anomen I agree with as long as it wasn't supporting him.

OH YEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH YOSHIMO!!!! THAT'S THE ONE!!!!!!!!
Let's talk about all the characters in that game I liked...hmmm...I liked Noober in Trademeet, as he gave me rocks, and I just LOVED that one chick whatsername that Irenicus captured and the whole plotline is focused around. Heck, I must be really DUMB to not know that one! I must have some kind of DISEASE not to be able to talk fluently in monotone! Hmmm...it is SOOOOOOO exciting to discuss such IMPORTANT details like what characters I like even though everyone hates my OPINION OF THE ACTUAL GAME!!!

    Hi,

Easy there Xaelifer, I think you nearly blew a valve... :)

Not sure what the theme of this thread is? is it which is the worst (read weakest) NPC, or is it which is the worst (read can't stand the personality) NPC?

Anyway, there are no weak NPCs, if you use them correctly they will serve you well, if one of them dies you are to blame not them.

I find it staggering that the designers managed to get enough personality into each of the NPCs to acheive such strong reactions from the user. The depth and scope of the dialog interactions is amazing.
This for me is the best part of the game and as such it is so much better than BG1.

Sure, Aerie winds me up occasionally with her whining, Amomen with his holier than thou attitude and Mazzy in the way she treats Valagar. Minsc and Edwin have had me ROTFLOL many times.

However, these are still only computer generated sprites, if it gets too much for you, walk away from your pute, crack open a beer and chill :D, I have several times :)

    Cheers,

    WittyNewt

I meant which NPC do you like the least. It could be for any reason.
Not which one is the weakest. They all have their strong points.

MINSC. First and foremost. I cannot *bear* him in a party. Second? Edwin. But he's not NEARLY as annoying as Minsc.

AERIE!!!no way man if aerie always dies in your party, then why bother getting her off the circus... she's a cleric mage for crying out loud, you actually have to defend her, any mage needs to be far from swingin swords and whirling flails, WHY?...simple, NO ARMOR.

Choose your members according to their specialties...actually i like them all......ummmmm cept for one, I think his name is Haer'Dalis, yeah that's the guy... If possible I'll sell him as slave or spider food in Underdark. And that friggin peasant in Trademeet, Neeber, the one that ask you stupid questions, I like Demonater's idea of luring him into the graveyard, gotta have to try that one.

C'mon! Neeber's not all bad. He's much less annoying than his cousin Noober from the original Baldur's gate, who asked "Are you going to throw rocks at me?", then "How about now?" about twenty times before he decided he'd run out of things to say and gave you XP - at least Neeber says something different each time- I actually found him faintly amusing.

As for the worst character in the game - Ratchett the dwarven fighter/thief - ye needn't stretch yer brain thinkin' I'm sure it's not a real NPC - he's the very first PC I took through SoA, and the second I took through BG1 (first being a human fighter called "Andrew the Peasant"). Couldn't hold his own in a fight with anyone, personality extends to "He's greedy, so he goes and does stuff, but he's cowardly so he doesn't pick fights." No place in the party at all, except he just happened to be a Bhaalspawn, so the whole story was about him.

[IMG] I always like this topic no matter how many thousands of times it comes up. Neeber is better than Noober but still homicide material. I actually like Anomen, but he picked a fight with me and lost. I'm not entirely fond of Jaheira but I wouldn't rate her below Neeber. I can't stand the cameos either but not enough to despise them the most. Hmmmm. Oh, I think I hated that frickin pansy who was trying to marry Nalia.. whashisname... bah... not worth remembering, but that was my least favourite NPC. That quest, in fact, was not very fun, although the illigitimate Cernd quest was a little empty as well.

  16. I don't mind Neeber.
What's so bad about a wannabe adventurer who gives you 2000 XP per person and 5 bullets +2?

I really don't like Jaheira's self righteous attitude but that comes nowhere near as ghastly as Anomen's self-righteous, tantrum throwing, whiney, bitchy, bed-wetter childishness.

I'm quite sure that they wrote Amonen into BG2 just to give me pleasure at sticking him in front with no armour on!

Right, Xuncle! If those damn paladins wanna "die in service" so much then let em, right? I have to say that keldorn's the exception, bec he's obviously smart enough to have survived to get so old and he puts up with a lot of your shit... until your rep goes too low and he's forced to "save your soul" by sticking carsomyr up your arse

    [IMG] Haer'Dalis.

I HATE bards. I mean they are a bad mix of a fighter a thief and a mage.
And the blade is the worst of the bard kits.
