[IMG] After reading about templates in the monster manual, it says that half-dragons have access to the dragon feats, what are those?

One problem: does Lokken have the MM? :) I suppose you only have to PHB? Am I right? When yes, can someone scan that page and mail it to Lokken?

[IMG] Maybe, but he did read about the half-dragon in the MM. So it was an reasonable assumption.

no need! sorry for not answering :)

I got my answer just fine, somehow I was so eager to get to dragons I skipped their introduction explanation, hehe. In fact the only book I don't have (almost) is the phb, but oh well. Thanks all

I am also interested an I se emroe people are interested. Can't you scan that one or two pages of the MM and mail them or put them on your webspace? We have one MM for the party but the DM needs it now. He even doesn't allow me to read it :)

[IMG] Headbanger, that is almost a good thing. The DM not letting you read the MM. Why? you ask? Well after you read the whole thing over and over like some people that have been gaming for much to long, you learn everything there is to know about the enemies.

Now IC you may have never seen an Iron Golem before. So how would you PC know they heal from fire damage. It's hard to play an unexperience PC if you as the player know everything. You should do it but it's hard. That is one of the reason I enjoy 3E, they changed some stuff. Now my PC can act 'flesh' and do things that may not work. It makes it easier for me as the player and brings life back into the game. So don't ruin it.

Find out the hard way how tought a dragon really is.

Just a suggestion. I think you will enjoy things more.

Well, I cannot post them at my website, but I guess I could scan them. I don't have all that much time right now, but sometime next week I should have :)

and Voltric, there is a prestige class that allow you to become half-dragon, which gain you allowance to the dragon feats.

[IMG] Lokken, I know about the Dragon Deciple. I was talking about the MM in general. And in the context to Dragons and other creature you might face.

Hey Lokken! I've got a deal for you. I went buy the Best Buy store around here today, and they had the PHB for only $14.95. But that's not all. The only reason they had it in stock was for a promotion with PoR:2. If you buy PoR:2, you get a free PHB! Now I know PoR:2 isnt' exactly that great (ok some people say it sucks, I haven't played it), but you can't complain about a free book with the game, or buying the book for $14.95 for that matter. That's the best deal I've seen on it yet.

Voltric, I have seen some of the MM, looked at another one a friend had and saw a bit of our MM too. So I know some about Dragons, Golems, and other monsters where every adventurer in the FR heard about. But I can understand the point of the DM and I really accept it. We just played one day so I am a level 1 ranger with very less XP. I don't know every monster and all abilities, tricks, attacks etc they have. Of course not?! I am at low level. I have to get experience I don't have yet. And that not only means fighting experience, but also knowledge about monsters. So when I fight monsters, I learn how they act and then I know that for the rest of the game. When I see encounter the same creature again later, the DM can say I know it is and then tell the name.
Some things are already known of course. It is also bound on Wisdom and that is pretty cool. The player who played already much (Gnome Illusionist) has the highest Wisdom (17). He knows th emost monsters and that is realistic. I have a wisdom of 14 and know less but also some for I played BG and BG2 (and we play in FR). The other two have totally no D&D experience and also the lowest wisdom.

I told the DM that it isn't realistic that I know totally no monsters as an elven ranger that lived in the forest. So I do have knowledge of many creatures that live in the forest (also have Wilderness Lore, and Natural knowledge). So I made and agreement that after I wrote a small part of history in wich the place where I come from and grew up is most important. With that info the DM will make a list of Creatures, that would be mostly animals that are very common in the wild, (forest) some of them I know very well, I can carefully read all about them in the MM. Of some other creatures, the DM will give me some rumors I know, for example all about Iron Golems I heard could be that they heal when they get fire damage. In a fight with them I can use my knowledge and shout to our illusionist that he can better use no fire spells for I heard somewhere.... etc.

I think this makes the game very realistic and I think it is better that I don't know all. The other party memebers of course wll also get the description of monsters that are very common where they come from.

Sounds like like a good deal Crawl, but how do you suppose I'm going to get it? I don't think there's that kind of best buy around. It's Europe, everything gets a delayed release from the US :(

You still want the pages marnix?

[IMG] Headbanger, I think you are on the right track. My only point is not to ruin it. For example if you where playing a barbarian with an 8 WIS. You have still played BG and have all the knowledge about creatures. When you face an Mummy what would you know? You the player would know a bit about fighting them but you PC would not. It just makes it harder to role-play. I think you get more enjoyment out of playing the first time since you DON'T know what to expect. I was just suggesting you not ruin it. But I think you and your DM are handling things fine. Just to go and read the whole MM.

You are right. I know it is all about roll playing and I can also roleplay with already knowing everything as player, but role play that my character doesn't know this. But as you said, this makes the roleplaying some harder, for you can pretend not to know it, but when a fight really gets tough, you might forget that soon :) Also, I of course already know some about monsters for I played BG and BG2. That is normal for every adventurer already know some and heard things about monsters etc, while listening to stories in taverns etc. For the rest, I like to learn a bit, so I think it's cool to know not everything as player, but also learn new things about monsters as player. So as long as I am not DM I will not read the whole MM so I will, in D&D and D&D based games discover some new things.
