If I were you I'd dual him to sorcerer or to blade. Ooh, and dualing to undead hunter also rocks!

Well it depends what stats you have, and your alignment. You probably wont be able to dual to a lot of classes. You will need 15 strength definitely, and of coure, to be human.

To dual to a druid - 17 Wisdom and Charisma is also needed, as well as a true neutral alignment.
To dual to a Cleric, 17 Wisdom AFAIK.
    Theif - 17 Dex.
    Mage - 17 Intel.

Try Thief and experience some heavy backstabbing damages :)

Nothing like a low Thac0 grand mastery and 18/?? and a good x5 backstab multiplier.

They will never know what hit them. Or live to ponder about it even

[IMG] Pick mage then, because you can't dual to a Sorcerer.

No, during creation the only thing you should worry about is making sure you have a high intelligence so that later you can indeed dual to a mage. I were dualing a fighter to a mage, I'd do it at level 10 if I was playing BG2 only. If I was planning on exporting that character to ToB, I'd probally dual at level 12 or 13.

But this dc stuff gets a bit rule intensive for me. I like mc better.

:coffee: spent all night trying to dual class my elven paladin to a blade and just couldn't get it to work. Extremist, I appreciate you suggestion. Its the best I've read on this board in awhile...I'm just not gamer enough to get it to work.

    ...So tired and frustrated

    (you suck ;) :p :spin: )

[IMG] Is that how we welcome new users now?

Only a kit is available as the first class in dualclassing.Hence you can be
    Undeadslayer-- mage
    Blade-- mage
    but not
    fighter-- undead slayer
    fighter- Blade

So if you choose to dual to mage from fighter, I would suggest the often used
    Kensai-- mage
Don't dual untill level 13. Then you get an extra half attack per round.

    I would go with the fighter(some Kit)-thief

There is always the search engine in the top right corner if you feel like reading other forum threads about "dual classing"

Shameless self-promotion aside, Laker, I just recently posted a thread that you will find pretty useful if you are considering a dual-class character.

    Its:

    Thanx it's pretty helpful.

Well im going to Dual class now to a mage, but what would be better to do that with a fighter or a kensai?

    Generally:
The main advantage when dualing from fighter to mage (or anything else) is that you gain more hitpoints than a pure char of the class you're dualing too. Additionaly you can use all fighter weapons, as long as the secong class doesn't restrict them. But finally you're leaving the fighter class and become a mage instead - your fighter will no longer level up and will be restricted to the abilities of a relatively low level, anyway, a dc fighter-mage will be well able to defend himself in melee.
As for when dualing: depends on what you are going to do. When you want to go to ToB with your char I'd suggest you dual late, about lvl-12 or 13. When you only want to play SoA dual at lower level, 8 or 9.

As for the best choice - fighter or kensai:
This is basically a question of taste, I prefer the kensai for he has some genuine advantages over the pure fighter:
Kensai: Though the kensai is restricted to melee weapons only he gain's a THACO/ damage and speed factor bonus. He also gains a +2 bonus on armorclass, always handy when you're a mage. I would actually think about choosing the staff or a longsword as the weapon of choice for a kensai that is to be intended to dual to a mage. Kensais cannot use bracers or armor class and gloves to imporve THACO and AC.
Plain fighter: On the other hand a plain fighter can use all these items, fancy elven chain especially, and he has the additional advantage to be able to use ranged weapons like crossbows, slings and bows. Personally I don't think this really makes sense since I usually consider magic as a superior ranged weapon. Archery distracts a fighter-mage from using his strengths since he cannot cast spells then. I believe this is true for the mc fighter-mage and the more (due to the level restriction) for the dc fighter-mage.

    I would recommend the kensai-mage.

Well if you think that ranged weapons are a waste of time, then be Beserker dualled to mage so you can use your rage ability and still where elven chain and bracers.

    Only for a while, Laker.
When you Dual Classed your fighter to a mage at lvl er...lets say 9, then you regain your fighter abilities at mage lvl 10.

    [IMG] Laker,
maybe a multiclassed fighter-mage is what you want. Tjough slightly more difficult to play he'll be a better fighter all over the game and you will be able to use the abilities of both classes permanently.
As for me, now I would skip any dc char for a multiclass character.
