[IMG] All right the ultimate question, what is your favorite character to play. Include Edition, race, class, specialties, even personality or attitude if you will.

Mine, 3E, human Wizard with a speciality of conduration. He fight's cleverly, mostly sending hords of creatures to fight while he casts powerful spells to finish off his nemisis.

It's been done not too long ago, here

That chiurgeon character, by the way, I mentioned in that post is a woman. A 6'1" 185 lb. Viking-type woman. She is fast becoming my new favorite PC.

[IMG] I enjoy playing all kinds of character. The change helps keep the game interesting. If you only stick with one type of character things get rather boring fast. I don't think it's much of a mystery I like 3E the best and I do admit I have always enjoyed playing clerics, druids and paladins but all the other classes and races are also great.

I agree that playing a variety of characters is the best approach to this classic issue.
i have a few favorites. I enjoy using a bluff, witty human wizard with the Invocation school as his spec. He is good with the quarterstaff and has a few Spellshaping Feats that are feats such as Sculpt Spell and Energy Subsistutuion from the wizard extra rulebook, Spells and Tomes or whatever its called. He even has 9 levels in a new prestige class I created, the Spellshaper which enables him to master reshaping spells with surprising and powerful effects, like Chain Feeblemind and Iceball.

I am completely and utterly indecisive about what character I most enjoy to play, though I allways avoid fighters (unless they are multiclassed), paladins and clerics for some reason... I allways make 3rd ed. characters (I don't even own any older books...) I guess my favourite types would be illusionists, fighter/mages, theif/mages, rangers, rouge/druids and druids... Quite a long list eh. My favourite race would have to be elf or half-elf... I am sorry if I'm ranting on a little here but I seem to have alot to say on this subject, I hope this was interesting,

    Cheers, void.

I enjoy a 3rd edition Halfling Thief, specializing in theivery. I so love wandering crowds, picking pockets, making money, and having a blast. I also enjoy juggling in crowds as a distraction, while my fellow thieves pick the watchers clean.

It's no problem, man, it happens all the time. If it was really an issue, then no one would have answered, or worse yet, the topic would have summoned an all powerful mod.

I'm always the human fighter with an exotic or signature fighting style or weapon.Rather than be the metal clad tank, I'd rather my character be the swift and precise striker.
Of course, investing in a level of ranger or rogue when you're a fighter helps a lot.
Stealth, Slippery Mind, Track and Evasion all help to complement the rather weak WILL saving throws of a fighter.

  10. [IMG] I like playing Elvin Theives, and using the Assassin prestige class in the DMG, prefering to use Dirks, Wrist crossbows, and Kukris, all extremely powerful but easily conciled weapons.

3rd ed. Half-elf or elven rogue!
Totally rocks, when playing in a swashbucklerish style, ie. dualwielding rapier and dagger and playingas a very charming person. Very cool char IMO.

I like a nice ranger/rogue or fighter/rogue as a powerful scout with many combat options. Backstab, dual-wield, tank, bow...

LE Wizards, extremely intelligent and skilled. Beautiful features. Arrogant as they revel in their own potential and can't really understand why a fighter bothers to do what he's doing.

I never played a PC before in a pen and paper game. In computer games, I like mages because the light particles from the spells hypnotise me. But as a DM, I must say I like Lawful Evil geniuses as well. It turns the game into a mind game opposing mine to the players’.

[IMG] LE wizards be DM's bane! *wail* the one Lokken described here ditched ALL the possible quests I had for him... and I feel my poor brain is getting fried when I try to figure out how in the nine hells I can make this character do anything.

Lokken, read this and feel guilty now

In 3rd edition, I like the Fighter/Ranger. 6 levels of fighter is enough and the rest ranger, alternating the raising until level 12.

Arwen, if you want to challenge a player (ie. Lokken) that is uncooperative with your adventures, then you must create an adventure that comes to him. If he is a powerful evil wizard then there must be some foolhardy good-doers that want to end his reign of evil. I have always liked using powerful good dragons polymorphed into the form of humanoids to challenge players of this type.

Sorry Lokken, Arwen made it sound like you were a powerful evil wizard. I guess we can start off with just a few local would-be heros trying to make a name for themselves attacking you while you are traveling around town. We'll keep the polymorphed Dragons in reserve.

Baldak, thanks for the advice... but sadly, do-gooders make me wanna vomit in this campaign... so no good-aligned dragons so far. Maybe a CE one a bit later, though... I like dragons. *dreamy look* breath weapons and all...
But! I found out what works on low level LE wizards with "I'm smarter than all of you combined" attitude - a promise of ancient knowledge and a female NPC fluttering her eyelashes and asking if he's going on a heroic mission with this "You're my hero" (that's actually a quote from Erran's female NPC, but oh well) expression on her face.
