[IMG] Well I joined this discussion a little late but better late than never. For me it is Greyhawk before TSR screwed it up with Greyhawk Wars and Out of the Ashes. With the right DM the intrigue is massive. Tons of things to create if you have the time. There was enough background information given without micromanaging gameplay. There were no uber Elminsters either.

    YAY!!!!!!
I got the FR book- it seems pretty good. The problem is the powerful races, about half my PC's want one and the other half doesn't. Since its my first campain, I want every one to start out at first level, but that favors the poople wanting to be planetouched and underdark. The solution I came up with is a level handicap- They have to earn exp. for as many levels as their modifier without recieving benifits of levels, and then start over again at first level and procede normally. Does any one see any pitfalls in this?

Maybe you ought to use standard ECL. I, as a player, wouldn't want to go through so many sessions without receiving any further benefits, except for equipmennt.

The problem I had with this is that the more powerful races will outshine the regular ones most likely in the early stages of the games. But it occured to me that If I just get them through the first few levels quickly (mabye some story awards + the regular monster awards) it should balance out. Thanks.
