What are your suggestions for creating a character based on Uma Thurman's The Bride from Kill Bill? What class, race, stats, gear, tactics, etc?

 

Hmm, I don't know that anything fits really well here. Probably a cross between a monk (martial arts, problem is that a monk has to be lawful) and a kensai.

I'd say best fit would be a chaotic neutral kensai, female ( ), human, stats in the range of 15/18/16/17/12/10. There's a mod which allows a katana to be wielded two-handed, which seems appropriate.

Tactics? - slice-'n-dice

 

Shame you have to choose between fighter and monk - and can't go for a mix of the two.

 

Uma Thurman has a Charisma of 10?! TEN??? You must be joking. 17 CHA at least. It's probably her highest skill.

I'd lower the INT to 15, the WIS to 10.

Raise the CON. She has an extraordinary constitution, since she recovers from a coma and regains her physical skill.

 

I know she's probably not very strong, but given that in this game, strength impacts her 'to hit' roll, and she probably doesn't miss very often - shouldn't her strength be higher? Maybe at the expense of intelligence (she does have a bit of a screw loose).

She's definitely a Kensai though, I think, as she would never wear armour.

 

Kensai's cannot be Chaotic anything either.

 

Maybe Lawful Neutral then.

 

Uma should have Charisma between 2 and 4.... uke:

But seriously, we're talking about her character in Kill Bill. There, she comes across as more dangerous than charismatic. There, her CHA is average at best.

 

Plus I would question her Wisdom....except as an expression of determination / willpower.

 

To-hit isn't just governed by strength. It is also by your character level. Sure, she kicks ass against people who don't wear armor and are probably low level anyway. Can you honestly picture her taking down a dragon?

 

Well, given that you have to stretch the imagination to envisage ANYBODY taking down a dragon, I guess you could imagine her doing some gravity defying somersault over the dragon, driving her Hitori Hanzo sword +4 into the dragon's vulnerable pressure point, then rolling clear of the fiery breath on the way down........

Also depends what level you'd say she is at at the moment. But this is all silly conjecture. If I wanted to play a Bride-like character (i.e. sword- wielding, no-armour wearing, no spellcasting warrior) then Kensai seems to be the way to go.

 

It's has to be a kensai with a katana.

 

Human LN Kensai.
Single weapon fighting.
Katanas and short swords/daggers *****.

Completely agree with the kesai/thief human, in the early part of the story her alignment would have to be chaotic neutral, but changing to lawful neutral towards the end of Vol.2

Her stats would be somthing like 14/18/17/10/12/16 and she would have 3 proficiency points in long swords and 5 in katanas and have an amazing AC and THACO bonus, anyone got any custom portraits for this?

 

First thought would be TN Human Kensai, with grand mastery in katanas, two dots in single-weapon style, follow up with dagger proficiencies. Second would be a Thief/Kensai dual-class (you'd have to SK it), with the same focus. She doesn't care about balance, she wants what was taken from her and she wants revenge. Based on that, she could even be LE/NE. She does bad things because she has to - but she doesn't much care who she has to slaughter to get what she wants.

Items: Celestial Fury, upgrade to Hindo's Doom in ToB; Boomerang Dagger and then Firetooth (Kensai can use throwing weapons). Potions of Invulnerability are needed (AC 0, save bonus). In ToB, make sure you get the "Hand Of Murder" ability (requires Ascension or Bhaalspawn powers patch). Ring of Gaxx for AC bonus and Improved Haste, Improved Cloak of Protection for Improved Haste. Ring of Invisibility for sneaking around, Pale Green Ioun Stone and Wong Fei's Ioun Stone.

Stats: STR 16, DEX 18, CON 17, INT 14, WIS 11, CHA 10. She's fast, tough, fairly strong (she does punch her way out of a coffin), smart and determined. She isn't particularly charming and underestimates her opposition (Budd; O-Ren's guard).

 

... You guys didn't find her charming?

I was basing that assessment on how she acts in the film. She doesn't radiate charm or sympathy. Everything she does has a purpose and it's to kill her former lover and boss. To put it in her own words:

"It's mercy, compassion and forgiveness that I lack."

Changes a bit in Volume 2. But for Volume 1, I think too many of us make the mistake of seeing Uma's character as a "good" person. She's a born killer, she's good at what she does, and she enjoyed it until she found out she's pregnant.

 

STR 14, DEX 18, CON 16, INT 10, WIS 10, CHA 12

She is in good shape and fairly strong but 16 is very muscle bound.
Her dextarity and constitution are phenomonal, but she is not very intelligent or wise. She tends simply to kill everything that is between her and her target with little thought towards being outnumbered or out armed.
She may not have a very charming personality but she can act charming if she wants to get her way. Plus, shes hot.

Definatly a Kensai with grand mastery in Katanas and one handed style.
