I am requesting the forum's collective opinion.

I finished BG2, a bit early, since I never did get to the end of a romance, or some of the side quests, but the credits did role. The problem: I do not have TOB, I am running on a Mac, so finding a copy is proving problematic. My question: Should I continue to look, or does the forum suggest I get a game more recent, and/or more deserving of my attention? If the latter, what does the forum suggest I purchase?

I liked ToB as an expansion. I would suggest buying it.

    Try E-Bay for instance.

Well, I checked Amazon.com, and someone was selling a copy ot TOB for mac for $15.00 ("like new") so I ordered it. But I am still interested in everyone's opinion on the AD&D based games that are out there. I should have asked before...Are there any issues with installing TOB on a game that has been completed? What do I do, just install it, and start the completed game, and it will just move on to the next chapter?

Export your char from the 'final save' BG2 made, and you can import them (and the entire party) into the expansion. I'd still backup your save files.

I would actually recommend doing the final battle in SoA over again so that you can get the bonuses (if you import the final save, you do not get the Hell bonuses).

Since you asked about more recent AD&D games, ToB is the newest AD&D game right now and it will be as AD&D games are no longer being made. It's all 3e now.

[IMG] Ok, enough with the stupid "get a PC" advice, he's asking for help with a Mac. If you can't provide it, don't bother posting.

IMO I wouldn't bother with TOB. It is a dreadful expansion of total hack 'n' slash with no skill involved, simply moving from one fight to a harder one to a harder one etc. etc. If you want to play it that bad, then keep looking, but IMHO it really isn't worth the effort. Sorry. If you want another good game, anything AD&D is usually a good choice for fantasy RPG fans, I'm sure you'll be able to find something for the mac.

Ok, Sorry about the PC thing, but I definatly think you should play SoA a few more times, I havent played ToB, so I dont know how it is (still try to get it), but since BG2 is one of the best RPGs, you don't need a more recent game.

ToB brings closure to the entire Child of Bhaal saga, so it makes sense just to get it so you can wrap the whole thing up. Anyway, since this whole topic deals with ToB, I'm moving it to the ToB forum.

[IMG] Saber is right, it is IMO, the best rpg around at the moment, I've played it more than any other game in my collection (including BG I), so you should deffinately try ToB, it rounds off the story to SoA quite nicely and introduces lots of new challenges.

I'm not sure whats out for the Mac at the moment, but you can try other titles like: Baldurs Gate I, Icewind Dale I + II, Neverwinter Nights + expansions (this wasn't my bag because of the new engine, but you may like it) and when you realise how much you love SoA + ToB, you can have a look in the downloads area for extras :D
