I have no idea how to make mods of any kind. So could some one make me an item that put's the user permanently under the effects of "improved alacrity" so there is no pause between spells. Yes this is incredibly cheap but I am soloing with Irenicus and he just doesn't match up to his actual power (whith the longest road mod)if it is possible to put it in weidu plz do so also I request the item be boots. :)

I was actually thinking to make it as a private mod for Irenicus, because the item looks to be overpowered to be in a published mod. I actually have an item in my Improved Anvil which grants permanent Improved Alacrity, but it is usable only by Bards and it is not easy to collect all of the required ingredients to forge it. Permanent Improved Alacrity for mages seems too much to me.

But, if it is going to be submitted to the site for public download, perhaps it's a good idea to add adequate disadvantages and side-effects to it to compensate its power. Any suggestions?

More questions if the item is to be published as a mod for public download:

1- CLUaing the item via cheat is not a superb idea. Where do you want to find the item in the game? In a store? (if so, which store and what's the price?) Or in the inventory of an enemy? (If so, which enemy?)

2- Do you really want it as a pair of "boots"? I can't imagine how mental alacrity can be transferred via one's feet to his brain. Although some shoemakers say that one's foot is his second heart I never heard that one's foot is his second brain <grin>!

Well, I was thinking of making it available as-is for those who wanted it. Obviously it wouldn't be for everyone in that form, considering how overpowered it'd be, but some people like items like that. ;)

But if you want to make it into a mod, you'd best get the answers from those who will use it...

I thought you were asking me to make in into a mod for the site.

To be honest, I don't really like the idea of making it into a published mod for public download. I think I will make it exclusively for the player who requested it. I'll be waiting for his reply to my PM.

    Sure!

So, please give me your opinion about the questions I asked.

Now that more than one player want it, I think it's perhaps better to submit it to the site for public download (albeit after adding enough modifications to compensate the item's powers).

Do you want any specific other items? If I'm going to make an 'Item mod' for SP, I can put more than one item in the mod.

Sikret, I host content, I don't really have time to playtest or plan it in 99% of cases. My point was, you should wait for feedback from people here if you want to hear ideas on expanding the mod. I just wanted to say that I'd have no issue with putting it up as a simple override item to be consoled in.

james smith made my point. Some people would certainly like to have this. So why not send it to me so that I can make it easily available to everyone on SP? But, of course, there's no rush, so take your time, get feedback, expand it (or not), and send it in when you feel like it.

Sorry if this is a little off topic, but if you're playing as Irenicus, then who is your nemesis in the game? Irenicus?

Or is this perhaps TOB only?

Irenicus is still the main nemesis, but a mod called The Longer Road allows you to recruit him in ToB, much like Sarevok.

What's wrong with making the mod available for all? I mean, it's not like you advise people to use it... and it'll be kind of silly if all the players who want such a mod have to invent the wheel again...

I think it's a matter of reputation. Sikret's probably worried that releasing such an overpowered mod will reflect upon him/her, which is why s/he is talking about adding disadvantages to make it more balanced if it is going to be released for public consumption. I mean, just look at Weimer. Despite being the creator of WeiDU (IIRC), he's most famous for his over-powered mods. I know I wouldn't want that.

I made the overpowered version of the mod and sent it privately to Irenicus (the player who had initially requested it).

I will make the public version of the mod as soon as I receive replies to my previously asked questions.

Nonetheless, if every other player who wants this item, actually wants the overpowered version of it, I will make it public and will explain in the readme that the item was not designed or recommended by me and the mod was just made after being requested in the forum.

PS: Thanks for the clarifications, Felinoid! (and thanks for your caution in using pronouns; I am a he)

Or make the mod with two options. That way those who just want cheese can have their fill, but those who want a balanced diet can have theirs too. And you can still make it clear in the readme that the overpowered version was only included by popular request. :)

    EDIT:
Plus it might make the suggestions come faster if the cheesers won't get their overpowered version until the balanced version is made. ;)
You're quite welcome, and I have to say I'm glad I did; I would've pegged that name as a she. :shake:

I would add 'Miscast Magic' (10% - 15%) and negative 'Casting Time Modifier' as disadvantages to that item.

    Thanks for the suggestions, Razfallow!

I suggest that we wait a bit more to see if we will receive any other suggestions and then we will make a decision (perhaps through a poll).

What type of item do you suggest it to be. Boots don't seem appropriate to me.

My own suggestion as disadvantages for this item are these:

    - Wearer is immune to all healing spells.
    - Incurs -4 penalty to dexterity and constitution.

I would also suggest to make it a robe to prevent a conjunction with Robe of Vecna (or to add your suggested disadvantage of penalty to casting speed to the list).

Boots with such an ability don't seem like too odd an idea, an artefact might absorb power over time from a powerful person like with the Robe of Vecna. So far the restrictions suggested seem to be just making the mage physically weaker, which isn't too much of a hit since they're gonna be as far from combat as possible.

Maybe the boots should have some strange disadavantages so you're less likely to use them to nuke every single opponent you meet from the opposite side of the screen.
    ------

    Wizard Boots: 'Suicide Step'
The Mad God enchanted these boots for the Battlemage Valandil, a Cyricist crusader sickened by his travelling companions relentless theft of the spoils of battle. For Valandil the choice was simple, either remain at the rear throwing Lightning and losing his share, or leap into the fray, call down sunfire and take what he deserves. These boots were gifted to facilitate the latter, instinctivly moving the wizard to move into the heart of combat annhialate the enemy and claim any spoils or teleport them safely away before the possible counterattack from survivors. Before these boots would ever be tested against a worthy opposition Valandil was unceremoniusly crushed to death in his sleep by a group of Ogres as they attacked his encampment, the boots moving the unconcious battlemage under the feet of the approaching horde.

While vastly improving spell casting ability they diminish any defence to physical attacks and severly disorient, reducing the likelihood of any spell sucessfully casting. Indeed without Valandil's expertise (or perhaps a seperate enchantment) the boots overwhelm the wearer moving them at random, neither towards or from combat, but instead, everywhere they shouldn't be. As its name suggests, the wearer requires either Valandil's self-destructive mentality, or great faith in their companions to survive combat.

    STATISTICS:

    *Cursed*
    Base AC set to 15.
Increase Spells Cast Per Round by 4.
Wearer randomly teleports at the end of each combat round.
    Miscast Magic: 10%

    Mages (Single, Multi & Dual-Class)
