THIs post is to let all of you know about Tales of the Fallens Star a new total conversion mod for TOB that is in progress: it is based in Corymyr and as such will have all new areas, maps, NPCs, spells, kits and such. Mindflayer and i are two members of the team working on this, as well as Baronius, Welverin, Mordan,Funks and Notmrt Mindflayer will hopefully post and list the story thus far as i do not currently have all of it handy to type out... We look forward to all of you input, comments, and ideas and hope to make a mod that is enjoyable by everyone. Here is a link to the screenies that we have so far:

And here is some of the basics of TFS:Tales of a Fallen Star TC!

This thread is intended for all those of you who don’t know (or should I say don’t have the slightest idea of) what this mod is, and what it is intended to be. So, let’s get down to explaining a few basics about the TC.

The story is taking place in Cormyr, which is a powerful nation just south of the forest of Cormanthor, or should I say east of Baldur’s Gate to make it more clear for people who don’t know much of Faerunian Geography. Well, that’s no problem, that’s what Tales of a Fallen Star TC is here for: to show that the Infinity can still provide an excellent background for an illuminating campaign setting.
The story takes place 16 years after King Azoun’s death. The throne of the Kingdom has been empty for many years, waiting for King Azoun’s infant son to come off age and get ready to take his rightful place as the new leader of the Purple Dragon Knights (look below for more info on what that is if you don’t know) and as the Ruler of Cormyr. The brave hero to tell the tale will not be the Prince himself however, but instead a young adventurer from Sembia (the neighboring nation) along with his party of adventurers searching for fame and glory. Yup, that’s us!
For the purposes of the mod, which is intended to last around 50 hours (hopefully) a lot of new areas will be used, especially outdoor areas like in BG1, and three large cities, consisting of 3 areas at least each. Sounds like a huge undertaking, doesn’t it? Sure is, as it is also intended to use a lot of castle, caverns and small villages for the purposes of the mod. Hope that’s enough to whet your appetite for the time being!
And here is a little more about the moD:About the features work:
Each class will have it’s own feats taken directly from the Player’s Handbook with slight modifications to match the Infinity.
Paladins will have to choose a deity before the start of the game.
Clerics the same, but this time the deity selection will play a too large role on the character.
Druids may participate in druidic circles, which may be found in the perilous Cormyrian forests.
Monks will have to choose a Monk Order before the start of the game. By choosing an order a deity will be selected for them based on the Order (Order of the Broken Ones belongs to Ilmater, etc).
For all the others a deity will be selected according to alignment, class and kit. For example a Lawful Neutral Diviner will have Savras the All Seeing as a selected deity.
Rangers, Paladins and Fighters that are non-evil and non-chaotic (doesn’t apply to Paladins) will be able to become Purple Dragon Knights after level 6. The Purple Dragon Knights is a special Order of Warriors that are used in Cormyr to enforce the rulership of the King. They are the main power in Cormyr, just like the Flaming Fist were the leading military group in Baldur’s Gate. Evil or Chaotic Fighters, Paladins and Barbarians will not be able to become Purple Dragon Knights, but instead may perform tasks for the Order and still gain the advantages (perhaps not to the extent the others would).
Wizards may study in the War Wizard School in Suzail and therefore gain more arcane feats (and levels).
Thieves may become Guild Thieves by joining a Guild.
Bards may open a Bardic school.
Levels will reach from 1-11 perhaps some classes will reach 12. Don’t expect to see too many dragons though (like in BG2), some will exist, but they will not be as powerful. There will also be a unique Purple Dragon (yes, in color!) who will be really tough to defeat, but the result will pay you off immediately (I’m not revealing anything more!)
There will be many NPCs, some of which will be romanceable, while others will only come with you for a fee (mercenaries).
Following the story part of the mod will be a complete set of spells, items and some kits

    WOW! That's some splendid graphics!
You know, I think you should give a little more freedom. According to what you've written, evil or chaotic fighters (as usual) don't get as many perks as a nice fighter. Maybe you could make another guild where only evil people could join. Another point, you should make the PC able to choose his own diety whatever class he is, just change his selection according to his alignment.
    Just my two cents.

That's an excellent idea, though I do not know what kind of evil organisation would base itself on Cormyr. The Purple Dragon Knights organisation, according to the Forgotten Realms Campaign Settings, only accept warriors who are neither chaotic nor evil, that's why you will not be able to attach the "Purple Dragon Knight" Title to your name in TFS. I would still have to think of an evil organisation, which will most likely be the Zhentarim....... (ahem)....

Hmm. The Zhents are probably a possibility, and if their goals are great enough, maybe even some Red Wizards may stumble here. Ahh...but I see Taluntain glaring at me. Let me head over to thy forums.

well actually, any faction or group that is native to the Cormyr region may well be included in the mod.So perhaps they may be,I will definitely bring this up to MindFlayer and get his input on the subject.
