[IMG] I'm hoping someone here can help me with this. I d/l BG:T to see what it was like. I got the WeiDu version and I know that it's beta, so there might be problems. I believe I messed up my install by not uninstalling the BG2 mods I had. I would like to play with these mods and am wondering where do I put BG:T on the install list.

    BG+TotSC 3 disc Original Saga (I don't need a patch, right?)
    BG2 SoA+ToB
    ToB patch
*BG:T - does it go here?
    Baldurdash FixPack
    Hell Trials (non-WeiDu)
    EoU
    DBG
    Banter Pack
    Flirt Pack

My first run had BGT installed *last* and I ran into a glitch: traveling from the crossroads area to FAI, the game crashed to a black screen. I had to CTRLALTDEL to bring up the task manager and end the game, which was not responding. I uninstalled everything, deleted everything and defragged my drive. I'm ready to give this another shot.

Any help is appreciated, especially where on the install list do I put my mods.

My guess would be that BGT should be installed prior to any of the other mods, though I'm not sure but it seems logical to me.

You should definately install the Baldurdash fixpack prior to installing any mod...

Also note that Hell Trials should be installed on top of the list as it is, I guess, an IAP/SFX mod (basicallynon-WeiDU mods).

So I would say an appropriate installation order would look like this:

BG+ToSC (no if you have original saga iirc)
    BG2 SoA+ToB
    ToB patch
    Baldurdash FixPack
    Hell Trials
    BGT
WeiDU mods (btw, what is DBG :hmm: )

I cannot stress how keeping a clean install will help you overcome severely bugged games due to mod installation rather painless. This should always be done prior to any mod installation (but after official patch(es) and fixpacks):

Prior to installing ANY mod, you should make a BACKUP(called it whatever you want to) folder, and within
it you should place a copy of:

    Override folder
    BgMain.exe
    Chitin.Key
    Dialog.tlk
    Baldur.ini

If you ever want to erase all mods, and re-make your clean install,
    then manually delete:

    Override folder
    WeiDU.log

    and copy

    Override folder
    BgMain.exe
    Chitin.Key
    Dialog.tlk
    Baldur.ini
from your BACKUP folder to your main directory.

Thanks, olim. I will try your recommendations. If anything effs up, I'll let you know. My basic mistake was not making a clean install and just adding BGT after everything else. The readme doesn't mention compatibility with any of the mods I have or Baldurdash. Weird.

(I hope Felinoid isn't reading this. :mommy: )

    You WHAT!?! ;)

In keeping with the topic, I copy the entire game folder (with a FULL install) to a backup location before I screw around with anything that isn't a patch or addon. But my laptop's got a big hard drive, so it's not a space issue. If you've got a clean copy of everything, you're practically guaranteed no problems if you need to undo or start over.

    EDIT: @olim:
Well, when you quote something with my PDN in it right at the beginning of your post, it tends to get my attention. :p

Okay, here's what and the order I installed so far:

    BG+TotSC
    BG2 SoA+ToB
    ToB patch
    Baldurdash
    BGT

I'm digging through portrait packs right now, intending on installing them next. After that, it's:

    EoU
    DBG
    Banter Pack
    Flirt Pack
    (all are WeiDu)

Also, I copied into a safe folder the files olim mentioned for both games before I patched. I'll find some time to play tonight between shows and post here if it goes very bad or strangely works.

EDIT: Well, the game crashed where it did yesterday as I traveled from the crossroads area to the FAI. EoU is working as I can stack my ammo and such. I guess my best bet is to find the person who created BGT and email him/her about this bug-thingy.

Though I do wonder if Felinoid has placed a curse on me for daring to muck with the original Baldur's Gate. :hmm: :shake:

I am not sure where your crash is coming from, but I do not think it is BGT. I recently ran through BGT and ran into only a few bugs, the CTD you describe is not one of them. The problem might be in some of the mods you installed. I would recommend that you hold off on any BG2 only mods until you finish BG1 and begin SoA. That might help you avoid some bugs.

about BGT- is it compatible with any big mod?
and somehting else, what should you do about the installing of several mods and having the dialoge.tlk file getting overwritten all the time?
