Okay, there seems to be a bug here. I have quite a peculiar problem, in which my main character's long range weaponry and spells (e.g slings, comet, fireball) can only be cast/used at close range. Its no use satnding further away; my char just keeps moving in. Anybody knows how to solve this problem? (Problem started at Watcher's Keep. Does it matter?)

I seemed to have a similar problem with ranged weaponry as soon as I started ToB. Happened to me during the challenge in the planar prison with Aerie and Jaheira moving in to melee range despite having their slings equipped. I moved them away, clicked on their sling again, pointed to the target and it doesn't seem to have happened again (though this all just happened fairly recently). Maybe just an intermittent bug?

Are they running on an AI script? Try turning it off if so.

Could be the "line of sight" bug, which was (or still is) a known issue...

Tried to find some info on this site about it, but couldn't find any (maybe I've a touch of snowblindess myself :p )

    Anyway, so you might want to check out Bioware's site for a workaround if this is indeed the problem;
    SoA known issues ( @ Bioware )

[EDIT: Oooops... Snowblind, indeed. This bug has supposedly been fixed in a patch...]

You may call it an issue, but it's in fact critical bug with couple of spells.

    There are two solutions:
    1. Cast Heal or Cure Disease on affected NPC (you may also buy it at temple)
    2. Kill your NPC then resurrect him/her - that will remove the permanent blindness

Nope. Still doesn't work after installing the patch, or doing any of the following mentioned above. Anyone else know how to solve it?

[IMG] Try formatting your brain, too. I'm asking for answers, not mindless patter, thank you.

The thing is sometimes windows messes up,
and the only way to fix the problem is format c:
With a clean register who knows?
    Might just work.

That's too much of a last ditch resort. Is there really nothing that can be done?

StressedE, it's sometimes easier to fix things by formatting your hard drive, but it's very rarely the only way to fix something (in fact, it's typically HARDER to reinstall, it just requires less thought). There's only one thing that would convince me I HAD to reinstall, and that would be if I accidentally destroyed my registry (and even then, you don't really need to format, just reinstall Windows).

In terms of solving this problem - if you're convinced it's not a bug in the savegame (i.e. it does it in other / new games), maybe try a reinstall (of the game, only, don't go formatting or blowing windows away or anything).

If it is peculiar to your savegame... you do save progressively, don't you? I'm a relative newcomer to SP... can anyone on this board repair savegames?

Messed savegames cannot be repaired (for example, if you saved over broken chain on the disk or something). Bugged savegames can be repaired and anyone can do it with Near Infinity.

But one thing stirs my mind, have you perhaps played the card-game with Cambion? If yes, try to cast Remove Curse on your hero. And pray that it works.

If no, I need you to post all effects attached on your main hero. To find them out, you can use Infinity Explorer, Near Infinity or ShadowCheater.

    [EDIT]
    You got that right!
