Sure I liked it, but isn't Wail of the BAnshee more deadly then this HLA in terms of instant-killing, I mean, if the vicitm fails the save they die instatnly with WoB, but with this HLA it will require 4 rounds to die. And he is active in 3 rounds.

However other side effects like stunning, outstanding damage (why do you love d15s anyway? I bet there is a dice like that?) and reducing STR...it just rocks!

Though I wonder, why do you always create high level spells or HLAs with big powers? If somebody can ever put these spells into a mod, only PC and his gang will use them and beleive me this will REALLY unbalance the game in the favor of the PC.

Just my two cents anyway. Good work though, try to create less powerful, low level spells OK?

Actually, giving new spells to NPCs is a joke. Scripting the casting of these new spells is likewise pretty easy.

Making all the new animations and graphics for these spells is bloody annoying, however.

Hehe, I do tend to create ALOT of HLAs huh. Well I have alot of lower powered spells to try out neways, so ill add them now!

Regarding the HLA I just made, I knew that if I added some extra effects to a failed save I would have to lessen the lethality of the orignal effect. Was this a good idea you think? Oh btw Silver, "d15" just sounds cool!

OK, here's a lower spell for ya:

    Sphere of Talos (Abjuration)
    (Cleric 7)
    Range: Sight of the Caster
    Casting Time: 5
    Duration: 1 round/level
    Saving Throw: Special
    Area of Effect: Caster

This spell, able to only the few chosen of the Storm Lord Talos, enables the caster to encase himself with a small orb or lightning. The sphere is totally magic, but more so electrical in elemental type. And creature who dares attack the wizard in melee combat will suffer 1d10, +1 extra damage for every 5 levels of the caste0, of electrical damage. In addition to this, if a creature foolhardily attacks one of Talos’ chosen ones, the victim will also suffer an extra jolt – the victim will fly into an uncontrollable rage for 5 rounds. A save will half the electrical damage and negate the rage.

And don't worry Silver, they'll gradually get lower!

Cool, you just gave me an idea for a dangerous electrical spell!

    Lightning Fury (evocation)
    (mage level 8)
    Range: Sight of the Caster
    Casting Time: 8
    Duration: Until triggered
    Saving Throw: Half
Area of Effect: 10 feet initial explosion and the bolts goes up to 30 feet

The casters creates a magical orb made of extremely negative ions, and the orb goes unerringly to the target. It floats on the air until an enemy comes close. Once it detects enemies within 30 feet, it explodes, and does 10d4+10 electrical damage to a small radius of 10 feet. (with a save vs spells for half). However, as it bursts out, it releases a lightning bolt to each enemy within the 30 feet of the orb's location. Each lightning bolt does 6d6 damage, with a save vs spells for half. 1 enemy for each two caster levels are targeted by 1 lightning bolt. Note that bolts will continue bouncing and hitting more targets until their initial range is reached, just like the lvl3 Lightning Bolt spell. Therefore this spell can do massive damage to a horde of enemies within very tight places. It is very possible to reduce an entire army into a pile of ash if they are struck with this spell in a narrow corridor as the fury of the lightning bolts will bounce upon them, hitting them so many times...
    *****************************************

So what about it? It is nasty, and has strategic uses, if placed correctly it can even best Horrid Wilting! And you can set these as traps, NASTY!

Implementing the spell is easy too, get Glyph of Warding's animation, it will be the orb, it explodes and a single lightning bolt will come from it for each enemy. Sounds easy to me. What do you think?

Silverstar, far too powerful for a level 8 (or even level 9) spell.

OK :shake: maybe I over stepped the bonds of power a little, maybe we can make it a HLA? Or just make the initial explosion damage lower or just 0? Maybe one target for each 3-4 caster levels? And each bolt does 5d6 damage?

Sorry guys the idea came to my mind all of a sudden and thus I could'nt care about the balance issues. Maybe I shouldN't let it stack like a trap, they explode instantly maybe?
    But it is cool eh?

Anyway, Rastor, you think it is easy to implement spells for enemies and NPCs but it is actually harder to code the spells themselves? Interesting indeed. Can you do it or know somebody capable of the task?

I could do it if I had time. Coding the spells is easy enough, it's the graphics stuff that I can't do.

[IMG] Well I create spells with already existing graphics, each and every one of my spells are created fro this sole purpose:easy to code.

Take the example above, for example, the electrical orb is a Glyph of Warding graphic, and it emits a few lightning bolts. It sounds easy enough for me, what do you think?

That would require a whole new graphic.

Really? I don't understand at all. The graphics are:Glyph of Warding exploding, and then a few lightning bolts will come from it. We have the graphics of Glyph and Lightning Bolts, so can't someone combine them? Is it that hard?

But ofcourse I am completely ignorant about the subject so I can't really be sure... :(

You said mosters are at disadvantage but they have their own spells like the beholder anti magig ray it's a killer ...
My mage is a supreme among mages max hp like a dragon and the best items .... and i have played tob and soa over and over again and now he is supreme ...(the bhaal tears and the magic maschine in Watcher's keep)
But still beholders in groups kill him .. if i wait offcourse.

But gauth spell the innate abibilite is allso amazing..

    Tortured Souls

    Conjuration/Summoning: Mage lev 10
    Range: Sight of caster
    Casting time: 7
    Duration: Instant lasts 3 rounds
Saving throw: each round save vs spell -2/3rounds
Area of effect : 1 victim

When a mage counjures this faul spell. He loses a part of his soul and becomes closer to being a wraith(losing rep and falling like the slayer). The spell it's self is a portal/gate to hell.Tortured souls use this to escape hell.
If they succeed in killing the victom the spell is cast on they will live once more as zombies...
(Beware death is no matter of light hearted...)
The number of souls is random and could reach from 1-12.Each soul makes 5d6 negative energy damage each round if the victim fails a save vs spell -2 penalty.

    Hope it any good:D!
