[IMG] They can have all mage equipment, and with the Ring of Acuity and Wizardry, become stupidly powerful. Can cast multiple spells without selecting etc etc. THE list is ENDLESS!!! Anyone willing to contribute to my cause of unearthing this spectacular class.

They can be split from nose to navel by a barbarian with a two-handed sword...
    Seriously though, they DO rock.
I think they take a little while to come into their own at first though.

[IMG] Prefer a conjurer, myself. More versatile; I want to use ALL those spells, dammit. Sorcerers are to mages (incorrect pluralisation? magi?) what Huggies' Pullups are to boxers. :D Nah, just joking. Sorcerers are convenient but I just prefer to fine tune my spell selections according to specific situations rather than having a few handy ones which sort of get the job done in any given situation. Just personal preference really.

I like sorcerers better than mages but mages will go up levels faster because they get XP from learning spells. So that is one way mages are better than sorcerers.

I prefer sorcerers to mages too, but for a different reason: I just find the process of having to review and pick out spells for memorization too damn tedious. And I find that I tend to be very conservative in using my (limited) selection during combat, for fear that I'll run out of good spells when a real baddie comes along. At the end of the day, I've used my mage very sparingly and have a load of unused spells:) I'm much more relaxed with a sorcerer but that's just me.

[IMG] yes, sorcerers rock. they kick arse. no doubt they would destroy anything that comes into their path!

seriously though, they are extremely useful and versatile mages, and even though they lack the ability to learn from scrolls, their casting power is immense.

    [IMG] Hi,

not getting xp from learning spells is not a problem unless you are playing solo or the sorceror is your only mage since spell learning along with theif skills is shared between the party.

Personal preference on playing style I guess, but I think you always want a backup mage to reverse those times when your all powerful sorceror gets zapped by some spell and temporarily goes offline......

    Cheers,

    WittyNewt

Ya, the backup mage si a good idea. When I make my own party I usualy use a fighter mage or some kind of bard for that.

When I use NPCs I use Jan or Aerie then later Imoen.
