how to start a love talk and other things needed to start a romance..especially aerie......

You have to be male human, elf, half-elf, have Jaheira, Aerie or Viconia in the party.

It starts by itself and develops in Athkatla (it does seem to freeze in the dungeons). Aerie started her annoying whining after about two days of adventure.

BTW, where are you from?

 

You can also romance as a Halfling but apperently not as a male dwarf. With Aerie, she does come across as a miserable so and so at the start but, if you are supportive, she starts to mellow and becomes a good enthusiastic party member (even if you don't romance her fully) also (SPOILER AHEAD STOP NOW IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW)

if you want to romace Aerie watch out for that shifty Haer-dalis (or whatever his name is)

 

They were obviously not thinking of the female gamer when they made BG did they?

 

Nope, but tell me, how many girls do you know that sit down and play role playing games all day long?
I could name one, but she is a little on the bazzar side...
anyway HONESTLY and not lieing, how many girls/women do you think play Bg2 or RPG type games, especially Pen and Paper D&D..?

 

Well, there is a lot of violence in the game and most gals I know don't like it.
I also play AD&D P&P and MiddleEarth RPG, but both without any female players, except for one guy who PLAYS a female...(Why? You should ask himthat! )

seriously, you should just play the game. A romance will start by itself. If you come in here looking for every answer, the game definitely will not be as fun as it could have been...

 

Well i think you better add another female that plays all day onto your list...lol

And i cannot get the romance goin with the one guy in the game that a female character can have a romance with

 

hehe, you guys have no clue, lol. Ok, maybe you have this vision of women, and think we are like this, and that, and all sugar and spice, but I'll have you know, when your born into a family that is big on roleplaying and fantasy. You tend to become an addict yourself, yeah, I admit, I went through my phase of: Roleplayers are dorks, who don't do anything with their lives. Hehe, I grew up though, and I'm almost 25 years old, and I think I probably like fantasy more than when I was young, because I find it compelling, and interesting.

I can't think of anything more exciting than use of imagination. I love reading, and I find that the books I enjoy are all fantasy. I cried my eyes out on page 375 of Dragons of Winter Night. Yes, the infamous death of Sturm. I have never loved a storybook character more than Sturm. This guy was every womans dream, and what every guy wants to be. Then he gives his entire life, his means, for the friends that he loves. I can't think of anything more exciting and more riveting than a brave man, facing a dragon, for the ones he loves. That is what inspires me to roleplay, and that is why I have been a fantasy nut ever since.

So, let's put aside the assumptions that women don't rp, and don't play games. Because, not all of us are California Girls, who are out basking in rays, with 2 piece bikini swimsuits and modeling for Victoria's Secret.

 

I got a little misty-eyed when Sturm died! Although I was more shocked than upset. He was my favorite character, next to Raistlin - I couldn't believe they killed him! But I guess every story needs a tragic hero!

 

Ohmigod!! Sorry, guys, but Sturm was a LOSER! He was too full of his own righteous morals, to take what little happiness could have been his. Tragic heroes annoy the hell out of me.

Ok, sorry, flame over. And yes, he was a great character, but by no means the man of my dreams. Hmmm... now Tanthalas...*smile*

 

One more girl to your list! Don't you think Black is being sexist when the only person a women can have a romance with is Anomen! He sucks!

I do...unfortunately the black rings under my eyes prove that not only do I play all day, but all night to...I'm not doing the whole romance thing though, can't stand Anomen and his constant...m'lady let me lick your boots, m'lady your a bitch...m'lady i'm sorry...m'lady let me...*ahem* anyway, I soon whipped him into shape, and no..not in a good way if only there were some 'real' men in Amn *sigh* ah well, back to killin' in a random fashion (muhahaha)

but nothing happen to me...the only thing aerie tok to mi is telling how beautiful the sunset is.....in windspear hill....and she sometimes tok to the inquisitor the keldorn and im alreadi in underdark....and the sleeping business with the drow .....i afraid to carry on....

 

I am also in the Underdark and haven't had any romances. But I figured out that's because I'm a half-orc. Maybe U aren't a human, elf or half-elf?

 

Strange about Aerie (she is usually pretty easy). A number of things might have killed the romance:
-Conversations: have you been nice and supportive? The romance is fairly forgiving but it might stop if you are nasty to her (unfortunately you can't just buy her some flowers after you've been a bastard unlike real life)
-Other Romances: if you have Viconia or Jaheira in the group and they have asked you how you feel about them, then that might be taken as you 'choosing' them for you love interest. Without the Romance patch you can only have one romance in the game.
-Timing: if you rushed off to Spellhold it might be that you just haven't given the romance time to develop. Aerie goes quiet for quite a long time after the 'don't talk about being strong - I can't go on anymore' stuff.

SPOILER
First time through I avoided sleeping with the Drow princess. I was hesitant but tactful and eventuall she assumed that I already belonged to another and so let me off spending the night with her. Second time through I slept with her (for the sake of the party you understand) and manged to convince Jaheira (my romance option) that it was for the sake of the others. She understood but wasn't happy. Can't imagine Aerie being so openminded though.

Interestingly, even though I was too short, ugly and ill-tempered for Viconia, she was very insistent that I did not sleep with the drow princess. So, when the option came up, bearing in mind her rant and Solufain's rant (she will destroy you like she destroyed me etc. etc.) I made my excuses and left. Viconia then said that if I hadn't she'd have had us both flayed - rather extreme for someone who isn't involved!

Females can romance others than Anomen, just download the second romance hack from this site, then you can romance all the male choices as well.
