    [IMG] BUMP

iv just completed a large and long overdue update.. iv included lots of new links as well as updated some old stuff..

also if your interested mysticsyn has been kind enough to put up some little mod files for me at his site..

    http://mysticsyn.tripod.com/Mods.htm

    they are..

    - a corrected version of the baldurdash/teambg grand mastery patch as well as a version that i use that continues adding 1/2 attacks every 7 levels for warrior types.. it says that it restores gm to what it was in bg1 and iwd.. going from 3/2 to 2 attacks.. but instead u go from 3/2 to 5/2 attacks.. pernickety i know.. especially since technically its a cheat anyway.. but if u want the corrected version u can download it here..

    - a greater wolfwere fix by cinreth as well as a saved game just before u meet the infamous one in windspear hills dungeon.. in case people havent experienced the problem and want to see for themselves.. also iv included a screenshot shows me doing over 200 damage to the gww in 2 rounds!.. with his tab label still at "uninjured"..

    - a 'fix' for the red dragon scale in tob where it can no longer be worn with items of protection of +X.. i know this annoys a lot of people.. finally iv included a tweak that allows all magical armour to be used in conjunction with items of protection..

    Ranting, bwahahahahaha ;)

baldurdash/teambg grand mastery "patch" is definetly not a patch. It's not a cheat either - it has some grounds on which it's based. You might characterize it as a tweak since it is affecting stuff against designers' decision.

Greater wolfwere fix by Cirneth is already part of SPfixpack for SoA (version 0.4). This version will probably be added on SP today.

"A 'fix' for the red dragon scale in tob where it can no longer be worn with items of protection of +X"
In ToB? But this scale can be worn with rings of protection in SoA. If that is a bug, post me an argument why it is a bug and I'll make a SoA fix for it.

"finally iv included a tweak that allows all magical armour to be used in conjunction with items of protection"
That is not a tweak. Combining those generally is not determined by designers nor by WotC's rules. Those combinations you may get in normal game only by cheating on the saved game (presumably with ShadowCheater). That thingie is a cheat.
    ;) :p

[IMG] Just one warning from me to all who get Infinity Scripters invitation to join their group at Yahoo groups...

DO NOT REPLY on the invitation if you don't want to join them. The reply will automatically join you to the group.
In other words, don't be nice and send them back the mail with for example "thank you for invitation but I'm not interested". You'll get your mailbox bombarded with "posts" at the group.
I was stupid enough to do reply and after annoying "fight" with yahoo to register there I've finally managed to unsubscribe(you need do register if you want to unsubscribe - what a lame policy).

Oh, let me just mention that I've tried to settle this with the "webmaster" so the warning on not to reply is written at the top of the invitation with big letters, but all I got was overspitting on me.

i was just copying what baldurdash/teambg call it.. thats good enough for me..

Greater wolfwere fix by Cirneth is already part of SPfixpack for SoA (version 0.4). This version will probably be added on SP today.

that bug was brought to cinreths attention by me if you remember.. he said i could redistribute the fix how i want.. i wasnt aware that it was going to be included in your fix pack at the time..

it cant in ToB.. (look at file the itemexcl).. i presume its a deliberate change.. not a bug.. thats why i used inverted commas around the word fix..

"finally iv included a tweak that allows all magical armour to be used in conjunction with items of protection"

to me the word tweak in this context means a slight change.. its a softer way of saying cheat i guess..

to be honest extremist i fail to see why the terms used are of the up most importance.. given their ambiguous nature.. different terms tend to mean slightly different things to different people..

but perhaps your right.. mabye i should have thought a bit more about my terminology.. but the important thing is people are aware as to what they do.. if anyone is unsure then please add to this thread..

The problem with terminology is not yours.

Creatores call their mods (and definetly all those things are mods) with the wrong words.

Patch is a word used by Bioware. No, Bioware doesn't have a registered TM to the word patch, but "normal" 3rd party mod shouldn't be called a patch, if not because of the reason it doesn't probably fix bugs, then because of reason that decent modder won't allow himself/herself to drop to low quality of Bioware's patches. Not to mention that ToB final patch includes definitive not-patch thing called Deirdre.

Fix is always something that fixes things to the state those should be by design, description or some other source available with legal game. The game, not the rumors, forums, books, movies, etc.

Tweak is something that affects the gameplay in a way that game becomes "unbalanced" - in fact the tweak has another source or idea, but it is the thing that designers deliberately excluded from the game.
Now I have to add example - the so called happy party patch which is in fact tweak.

And cheat? Cheat is something that allows your hero to remove all hostiles from the map with single click. Ok, I'm overreacting, but you know what do I mean here. You may call cheat as a tweak, but please don't. Cheats do not just unbalance game as tweaks do. Some tweaks can actually improve your gaming experience, for example if you use a mod with item that changes alignment, story and some quests won't take the same place as without that item. Cheats are not used to enhance your gaming experience, but to bypass any game restriction because without cheats the cheater would not be able to finish the game by any means.

I hope you see now why I still take Robe of Vecna and Shield of Balduran and such items as a pure cheats and not tweak or even a patch.
And I hope now you see why I'll never rename the SPfixpack to SPpatch.

[IMG] well yes i agree with most of what you say extremist.. but some people arnt perfectionists like you (perhaps thats the significance of the name 'extremist'?).. though that doesnt mean that they have less enthusiasm for the game per say.. its just different personalities.. different things are important to different people.. we all have our strengths and weaknesses.. :)

oh and just a note about my page..

a few people have reported problems with some text being overwritten.. this is caused by people changing their browsers font under xp.. reset it and the problem should clear up..
