I have recently purchased BG 2 and the TOB add-on.
My big question is, should I install the 2 together, or just SOA, with the updates/patches.
I do understand that TOB has an add-in and add-on parts (Watchers keep as the add-in), and I assume that this is used like HOW in Icewind Dale.
My apologies if this has been asked before, but I did look, honest.
Please no hacks, cheats or unofficial patch recommendations
    Thanks all

Do a full install of BG2 - SoA, then a Minimum install of ToB, then the ToB official patch. That way you only need to use the ToB disk to start either of the games, and if you choose to play SoA, the disk spins down to a complete stop...which saves heat, and noise, which is great if you have a laptop. :thumb: :rolling:

I can't stress enough that you need to install that official patch. If you're one of those, "Patch? Eh, whatever," types, you're just asking for trouble in this case.

Yes, do what they have told you. Try and aviod the Watchers Keep before you have completed SoA. Don't read a walkthrough or ask for help here much. The BG games are so much more rewarding when you figure everything out for yourself :)

Not only the official patch, but I personally recommend the Baldurdash patch as well. It fixes a huge amount of problems that still exist in the game.

Edit: Blah, just read your disclaimer. Your loss :p .

Baldurdash[created by BG II programmer] and official patch are really a must.
You see, they don't add any quests/npc/make you stronger, just fix many small bugs that otherwise make the game very annoying.

Don't add anything else (at least for the first time), it spoils the game completly !

    Have fun !

    Dorner wasn't a BG2 programmer.

Thanks for the replies all. Have now installed SOA and TOB, with the latest patches, and really looking forward to playing. Having looked through the manuals, I am going to be playing a paladin on my first run through the game. (Probably an Undead Hunter).
I may be gone some time ......
