Backstabbing with 2-handed sword

    [​IMG] Can my multiclass fighter/thief backstab with Carsomyr once he gains high level ability of 'use any item' in TOB?

    You may be able to use any weapon, but you wont have a proficiency in it. As such, I dont think it'll be that effective. I generally use the ability to wear full plate etc, but You could try it. Just dont expect amazing results

    It's not that you won't have a proficiency in the weapon it's that you can't have a proficiency with the weapon.
    A thief can for example backstab with a short sword wihtout having a proficiency in it.

    To answer the original question, you can use it, but you can't backstab with it. Only weapons a straight thief can be proficient in can be used for that.

    [​IMG] I was in particular looking to backstab Xei Win Toh in the Watchers keep since he gave me more trouble than Hive Mother in my last fight, but anyway.... ;)
    So the conclusion is tha I can certainly have a proficiency in 2 handed swords since it is a multiclass fighter/thief but can't backstab even with my assasination HLA since a normal thief cannot use it. Right?

    No, you can't EVER backstab with non-theif usable weapons.

    Although a quarterstaff can be used for backstab, the Staff of the Magi cannot be used.

    But, as has been pointed out, the Staff of the Magi is not a thief-usable weapon.

    Yes I know, quarterstaffs are usable by thieves however and so when the thief gets UAI, the SotM could be used as the ultimate backstab weapon until a patch solved it.
