I'd have to say "neither", which would basically be akin to asexual reproduction, but that's a can of worms I really do NOT want to open.

 

It's fascinating to watch people try to apply logic to a fantasy game. The gender of spirits?
As far as the Solar, I always thought that the character was female based on the portrait and the voice. So I can see where Shadow Thief was coming from.

 

Well still Solars are not male or female just because they look that way.

 

I didn't say they were. I was merely pointing out how it appears.

However, in one of your previous posts, you point out that the Fallen Solar is female.

So, do Solars get a gender when they fall?

Oh well, elves and halflings think that the sun is a female(Fellowship fo the ring).

 

That's what Shadowkeeper says about hte Fallen Solar. I don't know why. But what about Devas? Are they female?

hehe.. a bit sexist there... to tell the truth, ive never summoned a Deva... Planetars are way better... and i'm not really a sexist

 

they all sound like girls to me, Deva's and Planetars have saved me so many times it dizzy's me to count

 

Yea. Spirits are girls when they look like girls, not what SK says what gender they are. In this case, devas, planetars and solars are all girls cuz they look like them!

 

so back to the topic... or a sub topic..

which is better.. a mage being able to summon only one planetar or a druid/cleric able to summon 3-5 elementals/elemental princes?

 

Well...considering my experience with both, I would say that sommoning 3-5 elementals is better than sommoning just 1 planetar.

 

Summoning a planetar is better. The planetar has massive amounts of spells and can kill the elementals in one hit. Plus the planetar has a better AI it seems from my experience and can last longer since it heals itself. Now if you could summon 3-5 elemental princes instead of just 1...

Oh and shadow thief, just because something looks like something doesn't mean anything.

Tyresian...I haven't met any crossdressers in my life so that's kinda hard for me to tell...plus I live in an atmosphere where all the girls go 'eww...gross' when they see the pant line the guys pull it down to.

 

i agree.. for one.. the Planetar is pretty hard to injure... just try killing the Fallen Planetar.. then count the fact that the Planetar can heal you.. PLUS your party... and also see invisible creatures (think Sendai)...

 

O.K. then. What about the elemental princes?
What stats do they have? What can they do????????

 

Deva
Has pretty much the same stats as a Planetar but nowhere near the number of spells. Weilds a Mace of Disruption +2, so I guess would be good against undead. The Fallen Deva is identical except it has 3 castings of Cure Critical Wounds and Globe of Blades (dunno why?).

In the 3rd ed. Monster Manual it says that Celestials (Including archons, seraphims, devas, planetars and solars) are extraplanar biblical angels. forces of good whereever they go. Like they are good anti-demon or -devils. They have differing alignments depnding on their type:
ARCHONS: Lawful Good
ELADRINS: Neutral Good
Theres a third type that i cant remeber the name of that are Chaotic Good
All the greater Celestials (Planetars, Solars and Devas) are any type of Good.
Thay are NOT spirits of planets or solar systems.

Got a wrong celestial in there its Eladrin instead of Seraphims, Ok.
