Hmm... now that is a tidbit I did not know. That might make me consider skimping on Improved Invisibility though without Web, Spider Spawn isn't very helpful. Oh the choices a Sorcerer has to make...

Now Wild Mages on the other hand... ;)

Spider spawn's still pretty good without web. Hell of a lot better than any of the other ones you have access to before skellie warriors, at least.

Actually I kind of like phase spiders more than I do sword spiders; you can haste them anyway, and that stackable poison of theirs just maims things.

I do have to say I love imp invis on my F/M/T. combined with SI:abjuration and cloak non-detection (or SI: divination when I use cloak of reflection) ... she can chew spell casters up fast since too many spells need to be directly targeted in order to hit ya.

Mislead is nice ... but I hardly ever use it after lvl 15. Project image --> squad of minions, farsight, march and crush. No sense wasting spells with mislead unless you're jumped freshly entering a new area. Even then most times I'll try PI --> timestop since you can get it off in less than one round (total cast time 5 for both spells) giving them a very small window to interrupt you. If you get to a single TS, it's game over for whatever jumped ya :p

Well, yeah... it's kind of hard to compare any spell with a PI-summoned planetar platoon (triple alliteration bonus!).

I like the poison on the phase spiders too, mostly for mages. Sword spiders are nice any way you slice it, for a little while anyhow, they're too fragile to do anything but soak spells later on.

Soaking spells is best left for Ras, the dancing sword. It just can't be killed, end of story. Best tank I ever found.

M's swords with Protection from Magic on. Very funny against mages :D . The only thing capable of taking them down is ability/level drain.

Mordenkainens sword is lvl 7 though, that means fewer PI's. Spider spawn is awsome as it can be put into a contingency, so you can cast web, pause, put SS in a contingency and have it go off before the end of the round. As far as bang for your buck a wand of Monster summoning is purchasable for around 5k (or stealable for nothing) - that equates to only 100 bucks a cast, or 20 bucks a summon (if you get 5).

Chimera, surely you don't mean to cast a Protection from Magic Scroll on a Sword. Those are far too valuable just to have an "invincible" summon.

Probably protection from magic energy. I'd cast the damn scrolls on enemy mages any day :shake:
Btw, you can duplicate it via PI, Simmy ^^

Yeah but if you're going to do that, just make the PI summon a Planetar or five.

Yes, Protection from Magic. Cast by a PI, so no scroll is wasted.

Which is just such nonsense. No self-respecting DM would let a player get away with such a thing...
