Paladins

There seem to be a lot of paladins on this board. Any particular reason for your class choice? If so, post em up!

I basically play a paladin for two reasons:
1) My introduction to D & D. Paladin was the first character I ever played.

2)Just reading growing up. I always loved books about knights, and glory and such. King Arthur, Song of Rolan with the peers of Charlemagne, etc...So I guess the the concepts of glory, honor, and duty were well established since I was young.

Plus the chicks love a man in armor!

I would play as a paladin, but you have to be lawful good, and that's just not me

In the real world...I think I'm chaotic good at best! LOL! (Or insert a slightly devious laugh here)

I guess that's why I play a paladin in the RPG's...To do something a little differently I guess.

 

Judging by your other posts, Sir, if you were really a Knight you'd be dishonoured by the first sweet talking lady that came along (no offence Hope)

 

No Defense there....Like I said, it's an ideal, not the real.

I actually stopped playing Paladins because of all the Noble Order of the Radiant Heart tards floating around on all the message boards. They simply annoyed me with thier aura of goodness that my new character, a Barbarian Half-Orc went into BG2 disliking all Paladins. I'm done playing them for good and all thanks to all the annoying Palain posts everywhere

Syl - I can understand that. I also like playing a Mage...I saw your 1/2 Orc, and I might give that a try...Since it's new.

I play a Paladin (but not only) because of a character in a Dragonlance book by the name of Sturm Brightblade. Maybe some of you are familiar with him or maybe not, just thought his sacrifice was very honorable. I also like to play as a fighter-mage though.

 

Well, I'm not lawful good in real life. This is roleplaying, remember... I was going to play an elven mage, but there were no good elven mage portraits, so I blame it on that. I looked at the different classes and decided that combat bonuses against dragons and demons (cavalier) sounded good. I hadn't even heard about Carsomyr +5. In addition it's one less character to worry about ammunition for (no ranged weapons). Arrows and all that take up too much bloody space! And when I play a character, I roleplay him, even if I disagree with many of his dialogue choices, etc. I never ask for rewards, for example, not even from arseholes.

I know, but I wanted to play, not wait until I could log on and then search for and download some portraits. They really should have included more new portraits in the game. Maybe I'll download some for my next character.

 

My swashbuckler would rather wield his +5 codpiece than any damn holy annoyer sword anyday.

Nah, hate paladins. Reminds me too much of the assholes in my society who keep telling people what is right and wrong. In a PnP game I once DMed, I had my Pcs wipe out a whole paladin order.
