[IMG] I started to solo a berserker (which I'll dual to druid later). Now I notice I can't get things open! Bashing them open doesn't work (too little strenght?). I even tried to place a knock spell to my innate abilities with ShadowKeeper but it places it to wizard spells. I'm in need of help.

Well, if you have ShadwKeeper, why not change your character to a thief real quick to get stuff open?

[IMG] There's a table in the BG2 Manual that say's how much strenght you need to open locks if i remember correctly.
And try summoning a Familiar instead, or use SK to give you the Ferret/Rabbit familiars, who are both adequate thieves.
Or use IEEP to make yourself a spell which can open locks/disarm traps.

[edit] It's Page 117, under Strength, and Bashing%. The number tells you the equal amount of Open Locks it's equivalent to[edit]

But I think in the game those numbers are fixed, so the locks you'd wanna open will be the ones you can't, because they have higher demands.
When I solo I just accept the fact that one class can't do all the things, if you want diversaty don't go solo.
btw, Draw apon holy might will raise your strength, hope you're a good character :)

There is an old bug I remember hearing about for getting a familiar to a fighter class protagonist. You would go to your inventory screen and drink a potion (not with your quick item buttons) and before going back to the main game switch the potion with the scroll. I'm not sure it this works for a knock spell, but if all else fails, do this.

I would get a strength enhancing belt and try before you do this as it is just exploiting a bug.

    [EDIT] spelling error

Thanks for replies. My strength is only 16 which seems to be quite hopeless. :D I also tried to make a copy of the Knock spell to be used as an innate ability with IEEP (make an innate Knock without altering the original spell). I'm not sure if I did everything correctly with it since it doesn't show in the ShadowKeeper spelllist although the file is in the Override folder.

try putting in the knock spell with shadow keeper. much more reliable and gives you more time to play rather than making it yourself.

I tried to give my character the Knock spell but it didn't work! ShadowKeeper insisted on putting the spell to wizard spells (not innate). I could work it out when I dual to druid. Add the spell with ShadowKeeper and give my character a few memorization slots to 2nd level wizard spells. But for now I'm beginning to approve the idea of not being able to open things. Maybe I'll even play the game without SK at all (=honestly)? :)

    [IMG] Don't bother cheating.
Get a Girdle of Giant Strength and your bashing chances will go up some. Indeed there are a few things you can't get open, but it's nothing you need to finish the game and you'll get all the good stuff you could reasonably want anyway. The only item I can think of that you can't get (iirc) is the Gesen Bow.

[IMG] Well, unless you have Crom or have str over 22 don't depend on bashing. Just realise that without a thief you'll lose some nice equipment ;)

And btw, Ferrets, Rabbits and cats (the familiars that have thieving skills) cannot pick locks

Hmm a good idea.. but still.. A demigod walks in a dungeon and meets an unfortunate chest. He fails to open it so he changes into the ultima form of murder and destruction only to find a horn coral gem. :D

Once you dual to druid, you can transform into a bear (18 str) and then draw upon holy might (you should have it as your innate skill when you're true neutral) which will get it on str 21 (IIRC).

Draw upon holy might increases str, dex and con by 2 but since I have the girdle of hill giant strength I already have 19 str so I won't get any profit from the shapechange forms (unless I wish to explore as a wolf). :(

[IMG] Correction: DUHM increases Str, Dex and Con by 1 per 3 levels.

I believe dualing do druid is possible. However, iirc, you can not cast spells while shapeshifted, so you cannot turn into a bear then use holy might. It may be possible to use holy might first, then turn into a bear, but that would likely only give 18 strength.
