[IMG] Long text to bother yer eyes! Here it goes:

Right, im planning to run mad  with this character. Its gonna be a (human) assassin-warrior. I have this neat lvl 21 assassin (so 7xBackstab) :D
Anyway, before I run berserk and d/c him into fighter, I wanna know: Is it the smart thing to do? I'v heard this cunning idea from a friend, but I wanna be sure first, if its good or bad =)

And: Can I use shield with him, along with a ... Cel. Fury? (Once I get it, that is  ) Or should I use dual-weps? (and then what in off hand?) And... I have 1 point dual weps with my assassin now... If I take it to 2 with warrior, will my first be added when I hit lvl 22? (And my ass. skills comes back in use)
And lastly: what armour should I use? I can wear warrior gear so... a chainmail perhaps? I got no clue, plz tell me :)

Btw. stats are: 18str, 18dex,18const and cant remember rest... 15, 10 and 5 I think, not sure tho'... Just mentioning in case u need to know it.

Are there any flaws in this "cunning plan" of mine, that I might have missed?

I'd be thankful for any advice u migth be able to give me!

If it were me - I'd leave him an Assasin. Sure you'd get the fighter's perks, (weapon specs, etc.) but you'll have to spend a great deal of time bringing him up to level 22 to unlock your Assasin again. Is it worth concentrating your game on coddling a weak character for the rest of your game just to get the extra thac0 boost? Wouldn't you rather focus on his strengths as an assassin? Which, by the way, will get pretty sweet when he has all his high level abilities. You can kiss those goodbye when you duel.

As far as chainmail - there are all the lovely elven chainmails, but anything else will disable your theif abilities. So you might just stay with leather anyway.

If backstab is your big thing, give him a strength-boosting item of some type to reduce his thac0 and up the damage. I've seen backstab damage into the '70s from a single hit before. If dualing your thing, maybe you should've dualed him earlier (like level 11 or 12). By then he could've had decent thief abilities plus a x4 backstab before hitting the fighter. If you dual now, neither class will reach true potential. I say don't do it.

Hey, I'm doing the same thing!

I chose an evil character so that I can eventually use the human flesh +5. I'd also recommend a strength boosting belt too. After dualing, your assassin CAN wear a helmet too, so I chose the good old Balduran Helm to help THAC0 and AC a bit. This prompted me to do away with the shield idea.

Which leads us to what to put in your hands. I love the Tuigan BOw and Poison Weapon combination. You can poison the entire team of opponents in a few rounds; plus it helps keep mages injured each round. For a melee weapon, I think anything will do. You might want to carry Arbane's Short short with you for a while to fend off hold person spells and to haste your self once a day.

And needless to say, get lots of potions of invisibility and rings of invisibility!

a Kensai/Thief is a good char. too. I dualed him at level 9 (although 12 would've been better) and got to level 22 with the XP cap. Also, my backstab (x5) scored damage in the low hundreds each time, so it changes your whole outlook on the game.

Thx for advice so far, more ppl are welcome to comment, as I want to gather as much info as I can :) Anyway, over all is the big problem that it takes time running a warrior to lvl 22? I don't agree to that actually... Since I hate the XP cap, Im using the cap-remover (Plz no teasing for this, I just think the cap is crap)
Anyway, im gonna run with only me and 2 partymembers when I play, so isn't it quite likely, that I will go to lvl 22 somewhat quick?
And then, my *real* reason for dualclassing is also that I just read the Icewind Dale Trilogy... So if any of ye read it, then ye should know who im trying to be (Entreri if ye couldn't figure out... :D )
By the way, can I dual to Kensai as an assassin? Would be great, but Im not sure if I can...? (cant test, game's at friends place, hehe)... And do u think an Assassin-Kensai would be good? (I guess the missing ability to use girdles and gloves is going to be a tight spot, correct or ...?)

Thx for any help ye gave me / can give me (?)!

No, you won't level up quickly because the intensity of the monsters is dependent at what level you're party is at. If you want, you could download the Solaufein mod. Every encounter is maxed to the narliests monsters you can get (it's actually really hard). Anyway, If you're willing to put in the long hours (you'll have to play the game more than once, since there's not enough to do to get to a level 22 fighter/level 23 theif) to get a character that has no point and is too easy, go ahead and do it.

If you want to use Celestial Fury - which is a great weapon (why haven't you picked it up yet?), then spend some points on Single Weapon Style... + AC and critical hits (great when backstabbing).
If dual wielding you won't be able to use a bow -and it's great to skulk around in the background and rain those poisoned arrows on your foes!
