Hello. Missed me much? I was enjoying my two-week holiday, and I had time to play BG more than ever! I was not online for that period though, unfourtunately.

Soo, I got ToTSC and Easy TuTu, and started playing as a Wild Mage. I also had a few mods, namely Sirine's Call, and Sword Coast strategems, AND Grey Clan part one:In Candlelight. (TuTu version ofcourse!) Then some Tweaks, 1PP, and the like.

It was brilliant, playing a Wild mage is ever fun in BG1, for examplei when I accidentaly summoned a Demon in Cloakwood mines, you can imagine the terror and excitement around, both for my party and for my enemies! :shake:

Anyway, it was all fine and good, the AI was significantly better thanks to Sword Coast strategems, no more 'attack nearest target' stupidity. I reached grand city Baldur's Gate, and since my party was lvl 7-8 I decided to start the Grey Clan plot. Made a save just before that though.

The mod's quest was very good:Well written, full with intrigue, treachery, difficult battles, smart and tough and characterful enemies, cool dialogues, etc. I really had fun, I had to make a few reloads in few battles (tatooed man was very difficult, but doable with a few good tactics and good wild surges on my behalf :) ) I finished other sub-quests too, and when I tried to leave the Friendly Arm Inn map...the game was frozen totally in my world map. I tried everything, to no avail. The game was just frozen, I reloaded, and the game still did not let me open up my world map. (for some reason)

I gasped in terror, fearing that my game was lost! But, luckily, being somewhat of an experienced player I have a bad habit of making a lot of seperate save games before major events, so I still had my pre-Grey Clan save, right before talking with the guy infront of Mage home in BG. I uninstalled the mod, and reloaded, and continued with my game.

But this was such a shame, I had 1-2 hours of unparalled fun, and all was for nothing, for in my game it was like as if I never played the mod, unfourtunately. I thought about re-trying but to tell you the truth I had no desire to spend a few more hours and battling all those hard encounters again for nothing, as the bug might arise again, right?

Anyway, do you have any idea what can be the cause? It was like the notorious Bereghost glitch of Easy TuTu, but I do not know. Is this a mod conflict, due to something I did (or did not), or was I just plain unlucky? I really liked the mod, but I think the mod itself did not like me! :(

It may be too late for this run though, I am at lvl 14 and just newly escaped the Asylum in BG2. (and it was soo fun, with BOTH Improved Asylum's and Improved Anvil's extra-tough improvements, I had to use every clever tactic and trick I had to survive!) But I really want to play the Grey Clan mod for my next games. What can you suggest?

    Thank you all in advance!

These are plenty of mods. SCS and GreyClan were reported to be fine together. I thought GreyClan worked properly with EasyTutu too. They were tested together to my knowledge, but I'll ask and get some fresh testing results today.

(Some technical info: Grey Clan doesn't touch the worldmap of the game or the FAI area. When you travel to FAI, a script simply teleports your party to a different area -- in this way, the original FAI is unmodified and any changes of other mods are applied on it. When you finish GCE1, the script detects it so you remain in the normal FAI.)

If anyone can confirm (or disprove) Silverstar's report with his or her own game, or has any of those mods installed with GCE1 and have any information/experience, please share it here.

Yeah Silverstar, now that you've: supposed I didn't know whether you were a girl or not, managed to write "In Candelight" with lowercase, and posted a thread with a title which will frighten away any potential players of my mod because of an error present in your install *only*... :D ...the Tattooed Man will visit you at night*.

    *unless:
Unless you do something for the world. I have no idea about the error, I checked the tp2 of SCS, Sirene's Call and 1PP and I don't think they cause problems. Though you said you had more tweaks. Nonetheless I suspect the newest version of EasyTutu (or some very unlucky, unknown mod combination). As I said, I tested GCE1 before its release with EasyTutu, but I had an earlier EasyTutu version. At the moment I can't install the newest EasyTutu (23-12-2006, which I suppose you have), so *you* have to test something for me.
    1. Install GCE1. Start a new game.
    2. CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("BW0501"). Go the border to view the wmap. It will crash I guess, try it.
Then download this very small file, copy it to your Override (overwriting the original copy). Start a new game, cluaconsole, and see if it crashes.

No, this can't break your BG install. It can't break anything. You uninstall GreyClan, everything becomes reverted.

Oops, so sorry! I changed the title immediately to something which will appear less harmless to the new readers, I do not want to discourage people from playing such a wonderful mod, no sir, your mod is truly a gem for BG1. We need more mods like that, really!

Also edited the lower case mistake, SORRY! I did not want to insult your mod in any way! Why, I love difficulty enhancing mods and yours is the one of the two I know for such a fine game as BG1!

Thank you very much for your reply and suggestions. I will try it in my next game again, this time with your suggestions, sure enough. (god knows when though, since now my school started :p ) I will not bother with 'Lite' edition though. :shake:

Hey I was just kidding! I really don't care how the mod's title is written :) And if this crash occured with you, it will occur with other players too, so this report (as every report) is very important.

There is some problem if it crashed (and it will happen with other players too), and I'm not sure my random idea will help. This is why I hoped you might try that now -- considering that installing GCE is 1 minute, starting a new game is 1 minute, CLUAConsole is 10 seconds and moving to the area border is also seconds and that's all... If this is extended with the file download/copy to Override, I guess it would be a total of 3-6 minutes -- but of course if this is too complicated/time-consuming for you then I will certainly try to find someone else who has the newest EasyTutu -- too bad that your setup can't be reproduced in 100% and maybe the error will never be found...

:) Heh, no it is not time consuming or complicated, ofcourse, what you suggest will only take a few minutes at tops, but the problem is I am far, far away from my home town and personal computer with all IE games in it, for my school, right now! You see, I can not play any IE games when I am attending my school, and a good thing too, otherwise I would play them forever and really completely ignore my school. (I am attending to Medical School, third class, by the way, and it is actually a rather difficult year for us!)

So I have to wait for a few weeks till I get a chance to visit my home town again. Don't worry, it will be three weeks at most, my home is not very far, but the current weather conditions really bug me now, there is too much snow on the roads nowadays! :p

Oh, also, a few tweaks I had were:EoU, G3 tweaks, 1PixelProductions, Divine Remix, and BG1 GUI. I know G3 tweaks, 1pp, Divine Remix were originally designed for BG2 but they worked just fine with BG1-Easy TuTu. I got the BG GUI for a few days then uninstalled it, I prefer the BG2 interface much better as I am soooo familiar with it, I love it! BG1 GUI was fine and all but just did not feel right. Maybe this caused the problem? And, by the way, I have uninstalled my BG1 installation with ToTSC in it, as the Easy TuTu readme page suggested, there was no need for BG1 files any more, righto? These are all what I have done with my EasyTuTu installation, so far. Any ideas?

I see. Good luck for your studies, and thanks for the info. I will try to investigate the matter, hopefully if someone else encounters it too, he or she will report it.

In fact, it would also be great if those also informed me (here, PM, email etc.) who played Grey Clan Ep1 with EasyTutu/Tutu with the same mods (or any of the mods, perhaps with more mods etc.) as Silverstar. Without problems. (Certainly if there have been problems, the report is even more important; what I'm saying is that if you've experienced no problem, you should still post about it here as a confirmation.)

I will be grateful for such reports. You will be mentioned in the Grey Clan forum for your help.
