Solaufein Question

I am just about to start a game with a female character and to get Soulafein as a romantic interest.

I was wondering, is it feasible and worth it to rush to get Imoen, and then onwards to Soulafein right off the bat? Or should I just level in Athkalia and go get Soulafein a little later.

I plan on using Soulafein, Viconia, Edwin, Korgan (and Imoen til ToB), siwtching to Sarevok (going for the Evil angle.

afaik you don't have to rush for the underdark. solaufein's level is adjusted to the party level even though i am not sure if there is a solaufein with more than 1.500.000 xp. you should simply check the readme file that comes along with the mod.
so if you rush - rush for imoen.

but you should be aware that once you are back from the underdark your party is going to face some new enemies - thanks to sola. and you won't be able to beat them without a bit of tactic.

 

I recommend to get Solaufein as soon as possible. You will need some time in order to get his quests/encounters to unfold. The romance will take quite a while, too.

Brace yourself for heavy fighting.

That's what I figured, but I was just worried about some of those encounters on the way ther, but I figure Viconia, Edwin, Korgan and myself as a F/M/T should be okay with some good tactics and careful thought. And I will have Imoen to help out a bit.

I do have the Tactics mod installed, so not sure if it heavily affects any fights on the way to the Underdark, or in the Underdark itself, as I have just recently bought the game and am on the way to the Underdark with a mostly good party.

I figure on just doing the little circus thingy and then grabbing Viconia and Korgan, then Edwin then heading out to Spellhold immediately, before even getting a stronghold or anything, so I would do all those quests when I am back on the mainland in chapter 6 or so.

I think this is a good idea, as it would allow me to fully develop Soulafein and the romance. Any other thoughts out there?

 

I never played with the Solaufein mod, but I always rush to Spellhold as soon as possible if I want Imoen in my (semi)-permanent party. I like to play for most of the game with the characters that I like, and with the full party the way I want it arranged. When I play with the Solaufein mod (soon, time permitting), I will definitely do the same. And as you said it yourself, with romances, you'll probably need quite a while to get all the lovetalks, so rushing is better than getting him too late then having to just wait for them to happen.

 

I'd recommend waiting and gaining levels. The fights that come along with that romance are *tough* and I'm pretty damn good at this game.
Also, if you're antsy to get the relationship going you can talk to him yourself, he'll say "I have nothing to say to you right now" but then about five seconds later he'll bring up a dialouge that progresses the romance.
