[IMG] I have for some time now thought about soloing tutu, I just don't know what class to choose.

I have before soloed BGII with a sorcerer, and thought about using one in tutu too. however, though I found using a sorc fun, I would like to try out something new. I've thought some about trying out a Bard or a warrior class/thief multi-classed character.

What do you think I should go for? I really can't make up my mind by myself (Especially due to my poor knowledge of 2E rules).

Swashbuckler!!! It's like a fighter/thief who levels up quicker. Sure you can't backstab, but at low levels it doesn't make that much of a difference.

That sounds like an idea. However I plan to take him all the way through the trilogy, so wouldn't a fighter/thief end up being more powerful considering that he can backstab?

In that case take an F/M/T. Lots of fun with Cloudkill-Stealth; the idiots just stand there! Stoneskin is pretty handy whether you're hacking and slashing or casting a spell.

F/T can be pretty fun too. Better armor than with an F/M/T, and you get twice as much chunking!

When I suggested Swashbuckler, I thought you were just doing Tutu. They lose some punch at the higher levels because of the lack of backstab.

Know what, I think I'll try out an F/M/T! Could be loads of fun.

Blades are a great alternative to F/M/Ts, but might be painful at the low levels/equipment in BG1.

Yeah. I actually started out trying a blade, but as you said it was a pain. Not only wasn't I able to get a decent enough HP, and items (like melodic chains in SoA) worth talking about laid in a distant future(No armors). I find F/M/T much more to my liking. Just cleared Nashkel Mines, brought Brage his salvation, killed Greywolf and Bassilius with only a few deaths :)

F/M/T: You're no longer restricted to one weapon slot! You can do everything! Yay!

IMO Blade is much better than F/M/T, I soloed Tutu with a Blade, he got to level 10 so fast it wasn't even funny. The offensive Spin rocks, I cleared the bandit camp without any problem. But it's just me, I don't like MCing that much, it takes longer to level up (I'd rather dual class since going solo makes it much faster). If you really plan to rely so heavily on spells you'd be better off playing a Mage of some sort (Cleric/Illusionist is quite good).

A high level Swashbuckler isn't that bad, they get Whirlwind attack, UAI, and the bonuses to the AC and To Hit and Damage get better. Don't forget about traps too (starting at level 6). A dual classed Swashbuckler/Fighter is really awesome.

@Felinoid: I got Ironskins for Jaheira but I never got Stoneskin in Tutu (the exception would be a Sorcerer of course).

    EDIT: check this thread.
