    Copied from the kit description..

The Mystic is a bard that has trained Martial Arts just as monks. Because of the Mystic need to move swiftly in combat he can't wear any armour. Also as he fights almost exclusively with his fist they have become callous and therefore his might fail when casting spells. But as he gets better he can sometimes concentrate better and improve his success when casting spells.

    Advantages:
    - Expert at fighting with fists.
    Damage Level:
    1D3 - 1-3
    1D4 - 4-7
    1D6 +1 - 8-11
    1D8 +2 - 12-15
    1D8 +3 - 16-19
    1D10 +3 - 20-24
    1D10 +4 - 25-29
    1D12 +4 - 30-
    - At level 10 fists are considered +1
    - At level 15 fists are considered +2
    - At level 20 fists are considered +3
    - At level 25 fists are considered +4
    - Gains +1/2 attack and THAC0 (fists only) every 5th level (cap at 3 attacks per rond and +4 THAC0)
    - Gains +1 movement speed every 4th level (starts at level 1)
    - Can't be slowed
    - Gets a +2 AC bonus on creation
    - Get "Concentrate" every 8th level. Will reduce the chance of spell failure by 1% every 2nd level. But it will also reduce number of attacks to 1.
    - Immune to disease.

    Disadvantages.
    - Can't wear armour.
    - Can't use helmets.
    - Can't be hasted.
    - Have a 20% chance of fail a spell.
    - Can use almost any weapon but can't be proficient in it, except dart and sling.
    - Wont get improved bard song (HLA* in ToB)
    - Wont get "USE ANY ITEM"(HLA* in ToB)
    - Can't use bardsong (you can use it but i wont do anything)

*HLA = High level ability. You can get them when you pass 3M exp in ToB.

    Innate ability: Concentrate.
    Duration: 5 Rounds
    Casting Time: 5
Set number of attacks/rond to 1.
Reduces Miscast by 1% every 2nd level

What do you ppl think of it?

and if i want to submit it to sorceress how do i do?

Eh I dislike Monks... So therefore I actually dislike any character with any Monk influence...

Whats a bard with the spell failure ability? I mean, even a Blade doesnt have that o_0

That's an interesting kit, but it's more of a hybrid Bard-Monk, as opposed to a Bard kit. Still, a cool class to play if there ever was one.

    Welcome to the boards.

The reason for the spell failure is that i thought it would become to powerful if i didnt handicap his spellcasting abillity someway and spell failure was the esiest...

    and thanks for the welcome...

Weirdish to say the least. An able Mage shouldnt have a spell failure possibility.

Anyway, if you dont want him to be overpowered, dont base your kit on a Monk ;).

Monks are sooooo non-AD&D imho. Sorry.

In AD&D, bards cast spells like Sorcerers.
And IMO, Monks are kinda-ish like sorcerers.

So if you create this, you should make them cast spells like Sorcerers, and also Make it a Monk kit, rather than Bard (although i dont think it's possible to make Kits for Monk, Sorcerers and Barbarians.)

Hehe, almost like an multi-class Monk/Sorcerer with lvl ups for both classes each lvl up =). That would beat the Kensai/Mage IMO.

that would be WAAAY to powerful. And They are kit/classes on their own, not possible to mulit-class!

  10. Hm... that's an interesting bard kit. I like it, not overpowered but the special abilities are cool. What would concentration do? Reduce spell failure?

I agree that Monks are terrible!! Except for Danica in the Cleric Quintet of course!

    :eek::mommy::eek:
    I'm Sorry!?

IMHO the monk is one of the best classes available, at higher levels he's nearly immune to most things, including +2 weapons, and that's occuring naturally!

Monk is up there with Sorcerer and Kensai/Mage!

Um, I'm pretty sure that all the reasons you *like* monks are the same reasons a great many others *don't*. That whole "too powerful" thing.

Not that I agree with them, you understand..
