[IMG] You´re doubtless an infidel. Following old occidental traditions I fear I unfortunately have to wipe you out from the face of earth with fire and sword, sob :D

[IMG] Well thanks for the helpful advice! The thought of dual classing is appealling - but I think my mage will stay pure and devote an entire lifetime to the art of magic.

There's plenty of chumps - I mean a fighters - around to get stuck in with the toe to toe stuff.

[IMG] As a Fighter/Mage {multi-class}, Ihave yet to find a pure mage that can stand up to me. After they cast the protective spells on themselves, it's usually a breeze to cast Breach {et al}, and then step to them. Once their protections are gone, they really don't have a chance {spell lost...spell lost...}. Dealing 18 or so points per blow {plus 2 cold damage} usually makes mince-meat of a mage relatively quickly, especially in the Drow city deuling ring {with Drow Chain +3}.

I think the best mage is one with some fighting abilities. Nobody ever gummed anyone to death,...One needs TEETH! :D

    [IMG] Marck: good idea :) :) :)

Sadly AI is low with BG (any version), and mages are in dire need of brains. The only good pure mage in the game, Kangaxx, has indeed caused problems with one or the other party. And he isn't even equipped properly: give him boots of speed, robe of vecna, he might just give you an impression of the discomfort a good mage can bring on you. Fit him with basic ai, and he becomes invincible (to anyone except an even greater mage :D).

<Ragusa is shopping, standing in front of the coffee and greedyly searching for his drug of choice when the earth opens and he´s beeing drawn into the dark abyss of the last and deepest of the nine hells. Silroths dream came true.

But Silroth didn´t knew about Ragusa´s two evil brothers, even worse than he is: Behind the fassade of an innocent looking bookstore they find an old folio, telling the secret how to bring him back to this dimension. And they go to work......

Ragusa is brought back to earth from a warm and comfy place in that very uncomfortable way, only too familiar to dimension travellers worldwide. And now he´s back, willing and able to spread confusion again> :D :D

(Of coures he owes some money to his brothers too, but that´s another story, hmm) :D

Fighter/Mages ? Bah! If ye want a mageling with muscles, get yourself a Bard instead! A Blade even. Strictly looking at BG2, they'll always be the better spellslingers, although of course the F/M's THACO'll be a bit lower.

Still, no reason to take those, since with a Blade you get a nice shift of Pickpocketing-skill included, and the famous Battlesong. So doubt no more, fellow adventurers, a Blade thee shalt be! (Storm Silverhand anyone :D )

Fighter/mage and especially kensai/mage is simply a very powerful combination, since in BG2 they can dual class at fighter level 9 and still get to lvl 17 Mage, which is the maximum with cap exp anyway. It is in fact so powerful, that if u want to have 6 NPCs in your party u probably should have just a normal mage or raise the difficulty level, or the game will be too easy.
Alternatively u can pick one or two companions, or even go solo... Me and Anomen, hehe.

[IMG] <Silroth simply touches his Ring of Void again and four Finger of Death spells streak across space. Ragusa saves once, twice, and dies>
What a shame, but it looks pretty final to me. ;)
