[IMG] a while ago i equipped my bard with Dakkon Zerth blade and noticed a strange thing. my memorized spell list included a 7th level spell. well, i removed the blade and all bonus slots disappeared except, you guessed it, the bonus 7th level.

now, i thought that was a neat trick and kept playing. unfortunately, the game now thinks that it's fun to keep adding 7th level slots to my bard whenever she levels up a few, in lieu of the proper bard spell list (in the appendix of the manual)

My question is: how do i "fix" this problem. Yes, i've tried shadowkeeper (have to adjust every time she levels) plus i've attempted to create a new bard character too...no joy.

I'm assuming there's some funky bug out there. is there a fix i can shove into my 'override' folder?

I wouldn't mind a few level 7 spells for my bard, especially as he is going solo...

Are you using any mods etc?

The Un-nerfed THAC0 component of Ease Of Use includes revised spell progression tables, which allows bards to get up to level 8 spells, so you might have installed that without realizing it.

hmmmmmmm...maybe the manual's wrong? on page 30 of ToB manual it says my bard can't get lvl7 spells and the maximum spells per level seems to be 5.

my bard is lvl28 and looks like she'll max out at 6 spells per level up to lvl7....is this correct and the manual fubar (patch revision?)

As for Ease Of Use...Is that one of the semiofficial tweaks that developer released? oh wait, i might have installed the "lvl50" mod(?)

Yeah, I think the lvl50 mod includes updated spell progression tables. Also, according to the DM Option: High-Level Campaigns book (2nd ed.) you're going to get an eighth-level spell at Level 29. Hope you're not disappointed. :D

But is that book implemented in the unmodded BGII - ToB?

I'm pretty sure it's not, because by HLC, bards are supposed to get their first 7th level spell at Lvl 21, but the BG2 manual goes to Lvl 23 without any. Instead of the three 7th level spells you should get by Lvl 23, they have one extra of 1st, 2nd, & 3rd level spells that don't appear on the HLC chart. I'm guessing whoever made the Lvl50 mod fixed it to be closer to the real game.
