I've got a problem with completing this.

I get to the troll, looking for the gong and he refuses to talk before he dies. No one is in the tower.

I've already done the Druid's Grove quests.

 

It's impossible.

The troll called Grae is supposed to tell you everything when it's HP is lower than 10.

But of course it won't tell you anything if you just say:
"Forget it! Die, troll!"

That's called "Quest Goodbye for pallies and such".

 

Figured it out. I was doing too much un-regenerating damage at once. Thanks.

 

It happened to me once - I killed the troll outright (Crom ) and didn't get the dialogue nor the gong. Ah well, annoying quest anyway.

But IIRC Grae is immune to instant kill (Death Ward effect)...

Please, that shouldn't be possible. If it is, that is a bug. So be kind and tell me exactly how to destroy Grae without getting the dialog. I'll add the fix to SPfixpack on the matter.

Just telling you what happened: sent Korgan and Valygar after the Troll that's supposed to tell you about the Ogre-Mage. They managed to kill it within seconds and I didn't get the dialogue. Korgan had the almighty hammer and Valygar was dual-wielding the celestial fury and the Corthala family blade.

(I do have ToB installed BTW if that has something to do with it)

 

It might.

ToB has totally different effects than SoA alone. The example is sexchange effect that is cumulative when you install ToB and which works against users of any beneficial items that change movement rate because of that (Edwin or any NPC stroke with Wild Magic sexchange). This items must be reequipped in order to work if you got sexchange on NPC, and Edwin can't be mended by any means. (at least for now, Baldurdash's fix doesn't work)

I can't however answer if ToB installed ruins that troll experience since I don't have ToB installed. Sorry.

However, I think that the problem might be in Grae's script. Would you be so kind to test it if I make a possible fix?

 

OK, you're gonna laugh your head off now. I don't actually have access to the game anymore. I am currently revising for my final exams and as such knew that any Bg2 playing would lead to disaster (these forums take up enough time). So I gave all my CDs to a friend of mine to hold until after the exams. So if you're patient enough I can check it on the afternoon of the 26th of april (the end of my exams). Sorry.

I managed to fulfill the quest with ToB installed. To elaborate on my previous post, the first time I fought the troll, I attacked with several characters, 1 using the flail of ages. I think I did too much damage at a time. I eventually tried it with Jaheira alone so I wasn't doing so much damage at once and no anti-troll damage. This worked fine.
