[IMG] Tell me, please, you who know, why it is that I have been unable to resurrect Jaheira when she dies. I have begun to romance her, and she talks about the harpers. Unfortunately, however, once inside Watcher's Keep, and once outside it she has suddenly died in combat. When I attempted to resurrect her with my handy rod of resurrection, her flower appears, and then dies again. She is no longer cursed. What is going on?

Either you completed her cursing quest incorrectly, or didn't complete it at all. To complete it correctly, after you kill Baron Ployer in the Slums, put her lock of hair in her inventory and rest in an inn for a full 24 hours. The rose icon should disappear. What might've happened is that you didn't rest fully after the quest, and the game still thinks she is cursed, killing her permanantly. Try using an earlier save and resting 24 hours before she dies. Otherwise, it might be a bug or a previously unknown feature of Watcher's Keep.

Some of the rooms in watchers keep screw up magic so that might be the reason.

You're holding your rod the wrong way?
    You're resurrecting the wrong character?
You're using a wand of fire?
Please don't answer yes. We'll have to scalp you for unbeknownst blasphemy.

Yes, I had a similar bug to this after my fight with the shadow dragon (BTW this should be in the ToB forum). I think it was either Viconia or Jaheira who died, and when I tried to resurect them, I saw, as you say, the flower appear, but nothing else. When I looked at The person who had died's health, it was some ridiculous number like -78. The only way I managed to fix this was by downloading SK (I'm sorry :wail: ;) ) and using that to fix her health, because AFAIK there is no way to change a party member's health with the console.

If I've read the fine manual correctly then playing pure rules D&D means that characters can't be resurrected sometimes.

Although the manual doesn't say, it's probably if they were gibbed :)

Oh, God, as it turns out, Xaelifer was closer than the rest of you...

All together now, "Methylviolet, you're an idiot!"

I figured out what it was -- it was the rod of terror that Jaheira had been using. (D'oh!) I knew that there was a 10% chance of losing a point of charisma each time it was used, but I thought that that applied only to its special abilities. Nope. So every time she charged into battle with it, she lost charisma, and finally she got to zero and was permanently, unressurectably, dead.

She's now at charisma:1, but my character loves her anyway. We sold the rod.

Yes, that concludes this very special real-time episode of "What's the dumbest thing you've ever done in BGI-II."
