I was thinking of running through the whole saga again with BGtutu so I could take a kit and dual class. I wasn't thinking of soloing in either BG 1 or SoA. I was thinking of doin a Kensai dualed to mage at around level 14, ranger/cleric multiclass, a swashbuckler dualed to mage around level 14, or anyother of your suggestions.

They're all very powerful, so I guess it depends on your playing style.

Kensai/Mage - Probably the most powerful class in the game. Tremendous fighting capabilities and full mage powers. A bullseye.

Ranger/Cleric - Good fighter, gets ALL divine spells (both Druid and Cleric).

Swashbuckler/Mage - Like a K/M, but a lesser fighter in exchange for thieving skills. Since you get tons of cash, get the 'Knock' spell, I'd go for the K/M instead.

You'll have to dual before level 14 or you won't get your Kensai abilities back.

Other than lowering your THAC0 by 1, what is the advantage of dual-classing at level 14 as opposed to 13? Level 13 grants you an extra 1/2 attack per round, but level 14 doesn't give you an extra kai ability or anything like that. I suppose you also get 3 hp instead of 1, but 2 hp isn't enough to justify it either.

I will probably playing with ToB, if I get it, so the xp will be high enough. If I do get ToB which level should I dual from Kensai at.
At this point I am leaning towards the Kensai due to the lack of straight powerful mages, there is only Edwin.

As I said above, 14 is a useless level to dual-class. Dual at level 9 if you want maximum hitpoints, dual at level 13 if you want the extra 1/2 attack per round. Going beyond 13 is quite a chore as it will take you forever to get your kensai abilities back, and the returns get smaller the more levels you go before dual-classing. I have never waited beyond level 13 to dual class a character, and I usually dual fighters at level 9. By the way, if you have ToB, you should have posted this in the ToB forum.

EDIT: Cool! This is post number 1111!
