Either a balanced party, or a theme party. (Toga is nice.)

Seriously, just pick your main character after what takes your fancy, and have fun.

If you want some laughs go for NPC that don't get along. Viccy with some LG's works quite well I believe.

If you're looking for the most powerful party then it'd be something like:

dc or mc Fighter/cleric dualing crom and flail of ages,
The best paladin (kit) weilding holy avenger,
    elven archer with gesenbow
dc or mc fighter/thief with celestial fury single weapon style
dc kensai/mage with the equalizer and blackrazor
    sorcerer with staff of magi

though personally I would prefer a party less powerfull

Why do you want to use EVERYTHING that's overpowered?

I would skip the Avenger since I guess you'll be playing evil. (Keeping blackrazor)Kinda makes it hard to get on with a Pally. Take the money as they say - 6k I think.

Could always make it your mission to lead Keldorn astray?

[IMG] I always like a party with a dwarven beserker, a gnome illusionist, an elven archer, a halforc barbarian, a halfling thief, and a halfelf bard. Class matching race on all of them.

I had an easy game with a cavalier, archer, Mazzy Fentan and an illusionist-thief, later joined by Imoen. The lack of cleric spells IMO isn't that bad but when you want to have some (which is significantly easing undead fights), you could take Anomen or Viconia in your party.

I enjoyed this party most: me sorcerer(magic), Viconia(cleric plus romantic), Korgan(bruteforce), Jan(thieving plus humor). I don't like custom chars, they are dumb and boring.

Yeah a monk would be nice, but hes weak in low lvls. im using 1 in ToB, hes the best member in my party.

  14. Lord Sarevok Guest

Here's the party I plan on having with my Sorcerer:

    Me(Awsome magical power)

Jaheria(decent fighter with a strength enchancing item, and fairly good druid)

Imoen(Only thief, also makes a great backup mage)

Viconia(Awsome Cleric, even better with some strength increasing item, as it allows her to wear better armor)

Valygar(Totally kickass fighter, especially with Celestial Fury, plus he can backstab and cast a few spells)

Haer'Dalis(Pretty weak fighter, but he gets better when he casts stoneskin and similar protections on himself, also makes a good 3rd mage)

Great magical abilities for everyone, only problem is fighting, but I think Valygar and Jaheria will be able to handle it, with a little help from Haer'Dalis.

imoens is a good backup mage and her low theif level dosen't matter as the points are spent well she has enough points in detect/disarm traps and pick locks to be able to pick a conventinal lock on the first or second go for everything else she lacks she has magic soulutions for.

Also if you want a class that there's no npc for, but think custom characters are boring you can use sk to change it.
note:using sk isen't cheating as long as you change the npc(s) to a character of the appropriate lvl depending on ther xp and given the appropriate stats. if you change the npc(s) more then once though it gets cheesy

    CrayZHorse,
Imoen is a mediocre thief, that's true ... to some point: Right, she has no stealth (ruling our her use as a backstabber - and making it miraculous why the bioware folks didn't made here a swashbuckler), set traps, detect illusions and pick pockets.
But she has the key thieving abilities: find traps and open locks - I was very happy to have her in my party when I didn't had a thief. She did an excellent job in preventing my party from beeing killed accidentally in traps. And as a trap-removing universal mage she's pretty excellent.

    As for the original topic:
I think I've found my favourite party composition: gnomish Illusionist-thief, cavalier, archer and dwarven mc fighter-cleric (archer and cavalier are of course halfling in my case ;) - however, a "normal" one is just as good).
This party has averything I need:

-Illusionist-thief provides supportive spellcasting for the party (with chaos/ emotion - and direct attack) and the invaluable thieving abilities and scouting
-cavalier is there to remove fear and melee (or just take another fighter char)
-archer (at the moment the char with the best kill score) of yourse ranged combat and mage killing (aimed shot with arrows of biting :D ; Mazzy could play this part - yet less efficient)
-fighter-cleric offers a substantial melee ability, supportive ranged combat and cleric spells, protection (chaotic commands, protection from negative plane) and healing especially (Anomen could well play this part - though he sucks period).

At the moment I get along quite well with them, the party is compact and levels up quick.

Here's my current (Well... the party I will go back playing to when I get the game work...) party:

Me, an assassin (Gotta love backstab....)

Anomen (Romance and cleric, as well as massive tanking power!)

Edwin (Magic! Magic! Magic! And all the funny lines... I want to make an Edwin romance...)

    Valygar (missile attack/sometimes frontline)

Imoen (Bad thief, but a good mage as well as the one using Tansheron's bow)

And a cheated, completely overpowered character, Artemis Entreri.
(I just HAVE to have him in my party....)

    Ara
(Twisted ankle, hurting head, four hours of Bology.... urrrgghhh)

Well, it depends on how many characters you want.

    1. Kensai/Thief
    2. Sorcerer
    3. Fighter-Mage
    4. Ranger/Cleric
    5. Monk
    6. Inquisitor

    1. Ranger/Cleric
    2. Kensai/Thief
    3. Sorcerer
    4. Archer

    1. Ranger/Cleric
    2. Kensai/Thief
    3. Fighter-Mage

Well, you can see where I think the power lies ;). If only you could replace the Fighter/Mages with Arcane Archers....

Here are some of my own persoanl favourite parties.

    1.Sorcerer
    Abjurer
    Conjurer
    Necromancer
    Illusionist
    Invoker

All spells, nothing get near you with this party at higher levels. Very fun to play, but you'll need to pause alot.

    2.Monk
    Archer
    Cavalier
    Sorcerer
    Avenger
    Swashbuckler

This party has bit of everything, and can handle most situations with ease.

    3.(all multiclasses)
    Fighter/Mage
    Ranger/Cleric
    Thief/Mage
    Fighter/Druid
    Fighter/Mage/Thief
    Fighter/Mage/Cleric

From a powergaming point of view i think this party rocks, everyone gets enough hitpoints, and since i think multiclasses are the way to go in this game. Everyone can cast spells, not many high level spells, but since everyone can cast spells, that doesn't really matter.

I use the T/M for find traps, pick locks, detect illiusins, and pick pocket.
While i use the F/M/T move silently, hide in shadows and set traps.
Also i can make use of many of the best weapons in the game.

All of these are fantastic to play, but probably the most enjoyable is the first one for me, because it offers a real challenge early on, trying to get good equipment is for everyone is also hard, but once you gain access to higher levels, no one can come near you.

    Sorry for rambling on.
