Is the following valid? I found this under the spell description on www.planetbaldursgate.com.

The Finger of Death spell snuffs out the victim's life force. If successful, the victim can be neither raised nor resurrected. In addition, in human subjects the spell initiates changes to the body such that after three days the caster can, by means of a special ceremony costing not less than 1,000 gp plus 500 gp per body, animate the corpse as a juju zombie under the control of the caster. The changes can be reversed before animation by a Limited Wish or similar spell cast directly upon the body, and a full wish restores the subject to life.

The caster utters the Finger of Death spell incantation, points his index finger at the creature to be slain, and unless the victim succeeds in a saving throw vs. spell, death occurs. A creature successfully saving still receives 2d8+1 points of damage. If the subject dies of damage, no internal changes occur and the victim can then be revived normally.

It is not implemented in the game if that is what you are curious about.

Pretty much what Echon said. It might be in some rules description somewhere (although the term 'Juju Zombie' is rather hard to believe) but the Baldur's Gate games don't impliment EVERY D&D rule.

(By the way, Echon, don't put -Echon or any signature after every post. Keep that up and Tal [All powerful God of the forum] will brand thee with yon plaque designating thee as 'Idiot of the Week' - a most humliating title and occupation)

I thought so but the other descriptions (in planetbalursgate) did not have other 'trivia' attatched to them. Thanks

Yeah, I wouldt think that implementing such a system would be even feasable in a cRPG. You'd end up with people wandering around making an entire army of the sodding things.

Come to think of it, that spell would be perfect for a necromancer sub-class. :D

Abomination: Sure. I just tend to forget that this one forum out of all those I visit does not allow that. And by way, I could not care less about what Taluntain wants to label me as.

[We have never given anyone the idiot plaque for using signatures, so ignore Abomination's comment since it is false. That's precisely why we have a rule which forbids anyone but mods and admins from giving advice to other people regarding how to comply with our rules.] -Tal

This reminds me of some Juju zombies from Neverwinter nights as enemies. They were tougher than normal ones, about CR5 if i had to guess.
Of course, you couldnt make your own there either, but now i at least know how they came to be.

I would have thought that, due to the nature of a Necromancer they should be able to raise Zombies and Skeletons as a special ability and not a spell - a little like Diablo 2. They are still excellent mages in BG2 though.

I tend to use this spell reference. It tends to be pretty accurate on how spells actually behave in the game, which can be different from the manual. It also provides HLA descriptions as well as notes on bugs and "cheese".

I'll admit I haven't looked thoroughly at planetbaldursgate, but it seems to take the manual's incorrect (IIRC) duration of Armor. Therefore, although it's got pretty pictures, I wouldn't trust it for accurate spell descriptions. For another example, check Gate. That is a spell description from the pen-and-paper AD&D game, which I'll bet that Finger of Death description you mention is too. In Baldur's Gate 2, Gate just coughs up a pit fiend to attack anyone who isn't protected from evil.

Thanks that seems more like a great guide and makes me want to try come spells that I previously avoided.

I think there could be Juju zombies in IWD1 too.
